That isn't what I meant.
SEED was based on the original Mobile Suit Gundam, and SEED Destiny was based on Stardust Memory, Zeta, and, to an extent, ZZ Gundam.
I THINK that Stargazer is based on 0080: War in the Pocket, in that a crack team of colonist mobile suit pilots have to destroy a prototype mobile suit in Space.
That's exactly what I answered. I do Not think that Stargazer or Astray was based on anything other then Seed & Destiny. I do not think that every single bit of gundam is based on any of the previous series.
But then again maybe I could be wrong.
You are. It's been admitted that SEED and SEED Destiny were contemporary remakes of UC.
Look at the similarities, there's more between CE and UC, then there is between, say, Wing and UC.
Kira's design is based on Amuro (Specifically the shaggy brown hair) and Strike's design is extremely similar to the RX-78.
Rau Le Crueset fills the role of Char, and Mu La Flaga is Ryu, and, to an extent, Sleggar. Murrue Ramius is both Mirai (In the sense of a strong female presence, and the romantic link to Mu) and Bright Noa. (In that she's a captain)
The female characters all fill different roles. Lacus is Sayla, Fllay is also Sayla (In the romantic link to Kira, and the link to Le Crueset/Char), Cagalli is Sayla in that she's a Mobile Suit pilot. Mirialia is Frau.
Tolle is Ryu, (In that he dies crashing his jet into something) Kuzzey is Hayato (Only in that he looks similar), and Sai is Kai. (In the joker personality and that they both have a moment of loss, Kai's being whatherface's death, and Sai's being Fllay leaving him)
And the ZAFT pilots! Athrun is essentially Char (In the red mobile suits and his rivalry with Kira), Dearka I can say is Hayato in that his mobile suit sepcializes in long-range combat, and his relationship with Mirilalia. Yzak, I'd say, is more like Yazan Gable (Who doesn't appear until Zeta, so it's hard to place him). Nicol I have a hard time placing. There's no particularly major pilot who Amuro kills, so I guess I have to skip him.
Andy Waltfeld is, simply put, Ramba Ral. His odd link to Kira, and his prefrence to desert combat are both similar. Kira/Amuro even feels wrong after killing Andy/Ramba.
Patrick Zala is Gihren Zabi (Both in that he believe in a suprerior race (Newtype/Coordinators), that he's killed by a family member (Athrun/Kycillia) and the he kills) Siegel Clyne is Degwin Sodo Zabi (In that he rules the Colonies, and that he is killed by Gihren/Patrick, so Gihren/Patrick cna take control)
And the mechs: Like I said, Strike is RX-78. They both feture similar weapons (Beam rifle, high powered long-range weapon, and high powered melee weapon, beam sabers, and a red and yellow shield). I'm willing to say Buster Gundam is both Guncannon and Guntank. Aegis Gundam is an amalgam is Char's various suits. Like their pilots, I can't quite place Blitz (Nicol) or Duel. (Yzak)
Providence Gundam is very easily the Zeong. They have similar color, and they have a detachable beam weapon. Freedom Gundam, I suppose, is RX-78 and Dijeh from Zeta. Justice is also an amalgam is Char suits.
Ginns's are Zakus, of course, and Strike Daggers are GMs.
Jachin Due is A Baoa Qu, (Both in that their space military bases, and that I couldn't pronouce their names unitl a little while ago) and GENESIS is the Solar Cannon. "Jachin" is one of the pillars in the Temple of Solomon (Solomon being one of Zeon's Outposts). Artemis is Luna II. Also, JOSH-A is Jaburo. I can't place ORB though. Heliopolis is Side 7. (Duh)
And, if you look closely, the Archangel is just an elongated White Base.
AND DESTINY!
The one thing that stuck out most was Lacus and Meer. One being switched out for another is very much like Haman Karn switching Mineva Zabi for a looklalike. That being said, Durandal is Haman Karn (Haha, he's a girl) and Scirocco.
Shinn is Kamille. Lunamaria is Emma Sheen (In that she get's a hand-me-down suit from Kamille/Shinn), Lila Milla Rira and Fa Yuiry (In that she has a romantic link to Shinn). Rey Za Burrel is both Quattro, and Glemmy Toto from ZZ Gundam. (In that he's a clone of someone else)
This time around, Andy Waltfeld plays the role of Henken Bekkener. Murrue is both Mirai and Hayato. (In that she's leader of a rebellious faction) Lord Djibril is an amalgam of various Titans leaders. Neo Roanokke is Scirocco and Bask Om.
Stella Loussier is Four Murasame. (For obvious reasons) But I can't place Sting or Auel.
Kira is both Amuro and, oddly enough, Jerid Messa. (In his rivalry with Shinn/Kamille) Athrun is Quattro (Using an alias uintil they figure him out, and wearing those weird sunglasses).
Cagalli is Fa Yuiry (In that they both get upset all the time), Lacus is Mineva, (As said before) and both are Blex Foyer.
Miriallia is Kai this time, both being photographers/secret agents.
Yzak is part Yazan Gable (In that he's a very angry man with a preference for blue mobile suits), but I can't quite place who else he's supposed to be. Dearka is the same, possibly Bright, in that he's been demoted since the previous war.
If Durandal is Scirocco, then Taia Gladys is Reccoa.
Impulse is the Gundam Mk.II, but is more like the RX-78 than Strike was. Destiny is Zeta Gundam, both in that they look the same (Specifically the red and black wings) and that their the eponimous mobile suits.
Zakus are Hizacks, in a strange twist. Akatsuki is Hyaku Shiki. Dagger Ls are GMIIs, but I'm not sure about the Windam.
Chaos, Abyss, and Gaia are (and I'm going on a guess here) Messala, Asshimar, and Gaplant, respectively. Destroy is both Psyco Gundam and Psyco Gundam MK.II.
I have no idea what Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice are supposed to be, or Legend. Saviour, I think, is also Zeta, both in similar design, and that they turn into jets.
MESSIAH is Axis, an Ragnarok and Neo-GENESIS are the Gryps II Solar Cannon.
FAITH is both AUEG and Axis, Logos is the Titans, and Terminal is the AUEG.
Break the World is more like Operation: Stardust from 0083: Stardust Memory.
CE 73 Stargazer is, like I said, 0080: War in the Pocket, in that an team of ace mobile suit pilots have to stop a prototype mobile suit in space.
An that's about it. Try tying Wing to UC as many times as I tied CE to UC.
