Okay... so I broke up with my girlfriend today. I had hoped she wouldn't be too pissed and would be able to see reason. The problem is that once she got my break-up note. she told me that the first thing she thought of doing was going up to her room and killing herself! but she didn't thank goodness. She instead called me up and vented her frustration, which is understandable. But she isn't sure if we can still be friends, and she said that it would be good if we didn't see each other for a while. This is all well and good, but she has tons of other friends which I'm sure will have heard about the incident. Friends that will be at school tomorrow.
I was wondering if any one of the fellow seibs have any advice for when the **** hits the fan tomorrow!

Here is the Break up note I sent her, which has been edited to protect her identity!

Dear Anonymous-

I want to say that it's been wonderful being your boyfriend for all this time. But I firmly believe that I am not the right boyfriend for you, and I feel that we should sever that title where it stands, before it grows into something that neither of us can handle. Don't get me wrong. I'm not angry or upset with you in any way! I just believe that ours is a relationship the caliber of which I am not emotionally ready for.

Please don't be angry with me. I would never do this if I didn't think it was for the best. What with you taking those first tentative steps as a High School student, and me going off to college in another city. I think that this intimate of a relationship would not work well over such a distance. And I need to be able to experience other relationships in and out of college.

I want you to know that even though I no longer wish to be your boyfriend, that I still love you to death, you're like a little sister to me, and I want you to be able to find someone that can love you and be there for you in ways that I could not! Even though you may be angry with me at this point, I remain hopeful that I can still be your friend and continue to build a healthy friendship with you. I want you to know that even though I've been stripped of the title of "boyfriend", that you can always talk to me about anything. If you ever have a problem, or are facing tribulation in your lifetime, know always that I am just a phone call away!

She sounds nuts. Personal opinion and all. I'd make sure to lock your doors. Also. You shouldn't give a **** if her "friends" go all ghetto chick on you and try making you feel bad about breaking up with her.

There is also one other small stipulation that I neglected to mention... some of here friends are my friends too! I'm just thankful that the friend with the bastard sword doesn't go to my school!

It's the people outside of your group you have to worry about. That and women in general can go from "awesome" to "psycho bitch" like they're flipping a light switch.

First, that phrase alone shows that breaking up with her was the right way to go.

Second, with you going to college, that shows that breaking up with her was the right way to go.

I assure you that being tied to a long distance when in college will only result in one of 2 things - you will break up anyway or you will cheat on her (and vice versa).

Third, you broke up with her with a letter? Dude, why not face to face?

Fourth, now you are about to see who are HER friends, and you are yours.

you never ever ever break up in any way other than face to face, it is cowardly and disrespectful. You will catch **** for it, and you probably deserve to too. But i really wouldnt be to concerned about third party's opinions, you really oughta talk to this girl face to face first thing tomorrow and say sorry for being such a shameful git.

As for the mates, keep your head down, be polite and it will all blow over-girls are pretty fickle and you will be old news pretty soon.

EDIT: You's were only together 3 weeks?! F**k that, ive had longer relationships with sandwiches! Unless it was ur first girlfriend or something id say u are giving it way to much thought. Did you's even sleep together?

-the lack of balls on ur part

-the over emphasis placed on this break up

-the sudden need for this break up (werent u posting pics of her only last week?)
