That review really hit the nail on the head on one of the problems I have with Spider-Man 3: the over saturation of villains.

I mean, you would think that the way the last movie ended, Harry as Goblin Version 2.0 would have made the most obvious sense to be the villain, but then we gotta throw in Sandman (whose existence in this I can't even begin to rationalize) and Venom (the most blatantly obvious bit of fanservice in the history of anything) too.

Also, it appears that having Gwen Stacy in the film when she apparently plays such a minor role is as much a problem we were expecting it to be, too.

Still, I'll probably pony up the ten bucks to see the movie (which, coincidentally, comes out on my birthday.)

Yeah, I could kind of see this kind of thing happening, like with almost all the superhero movies, they try to introduce too many characters and end up shortchanging characters who need to be delved into a lot more than just a couple lines.

Gwen Stacy, perfect character to take time on, a huge part of the Spider-man mythos, from the review seems to be a pretty useless character only there to somehow drive the story along.

The whole Harry Osborne/Green Goblin arc should have been it's own movie to finish out the trilogy, as much as I wanted Venom in the film, sounds like the greatest villain ever is getting the short end of the stick.

Also, Venom isn't
(the most blatantly obvious bit of fanservice in the history of anything)

and I can prove it.

You're thinking of Batman and Robin...and I'm sorry you are. That must hurt.

I wanna know why they choose the sandman for this movie. New Goblin i can understand, Venom i can understand but going by the story form the first movie Uncle Ben was killed by the wrestling theif...and that guy fell out a 2nd floor window

No, the "rational" is that Robin didn't exist until the middle of the third movie so they called it Batman Forever. The same is true with Batman & Robin (the 4th/last movie), they don't have Batgirl in the title cause she doesn't exist until the middle of that one. But, it doesn't matter because those two are both the losers of the Batman live-action movies.

And, yes, I don't get the whole adding of Sandman as Uncle Ben's "real killer". I don't know much of the comics, but the 90's cartoon show had the thief in the first movie as the killer so, unless somebody knows it is different in the comics, that is what I believed to be canon.

Yes, and at the end of Batman and Robin they update their costumes with a sort of ice effect (silver stripes) for reasons I can't even begin to discern. Then they surf down to Earth on the doors of Mr. Freeze's spaceship.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Spiderman 3. I didn't like the first two.

well the only reasoning i can put behind this is that they dont expect to make alot more movies so their going to fit as much in as possible. again things like Gwen Stacy being Eddie Brocks girlfriend, Marko being Ben's killer, their all just stupid ideas that are rushed in to try and make their appearance important rather than make seperate movies about then. this should have been about Harry as the Green Goblin, and one other villain, Venom should have a whole movie dedicated about that.
