In my opinion, the action figures suck. The kits are the best way to go.

Way cool! There's a lot of info there that can help you get on the right track to building. We're beginner friendly unlike some other model sites so don't be afraid to ask questions. Just make sure you search threads first and reply in those threads rather than make new ones. It helps us keep our info organized and easier to access for others.

You're not going to find Gundams in the US anymore. Bandai thought over-producing G Gundam was a good idea, and when they couldn't sell them all, they just scrapped the whole thing.

Pretty much any action figure site, really. And Seibertron happens to have banner ads for them all over the place.

It was'nt because of over production. Walmart and other companies forced Bandai to repackage all the toys and models to have politically correct names. For Example:

Devil Gundam= Dark Gundam
God Gundam= Burning Gundam
God Master Gundam= Master Gundam

Bandai lost money and decided that they don't need the US market to sustain themselves. They then ordered everything to be cleared out and are now exclusively Japan. Everything you buy that's Gunpla related has to be imported. the MSIA's that you're looking for can only be found in spcialty shops or online.

tisinc99.com

bigbadtoystore.com

With a little luck, BAKUC will revitalize Gunpla in the US and alow us to be able to buy them again.

Hobbywave has better deals on kit and cheaper shipping. Trust me. I know my way around the model market and after collecting and painting kits, MSIA's just are'nt as satisfying.

I don't think Wal*Mart would be the one to decide that. The names were changed for the show, which aired on Cartoon Network, (Hence the change) and the toys names were changed to match.

Remember, this is the reverse of TF. In Gundam, the toys promote the show, there are no half-hour commercials. Bandai can't control the series like Hasbro does with TF.

Bandai does'nt have control, but political correctness groups do. Do you really think parental groups would allow a Gundam to be sold under the name God Gundam? The US marketing team had to change everything on the US scripts because none of the names would fly with parental groups. Wal Mart and other big companies told Bandai that they would'nt sell the product unless the packaging was also changed. Bandai's been pissed off ever since.

But Bandai still doesn't control Gundam, if anyone, Sunrise does, though they both have the same parent company. The names were changed for TV, and Bandai was be pissed that they'd have to follow suit.

But it doesn't stop the fact that the G Gundam toys were on shelves for around three years.

I had a ton of the action figures, but only bought one of the model kits, which I found to be exponentially more fragile with no compensatory advantages.

I used to use the figures along with my Star Wars, GIJoe, and Transformer figures, in a combined universe where they were human-sized cyborgs created by Maximal/Predacon technology and the use of the Force. The Leos of course were just really nice battle-droids...

I ought grab those next time I go home and bring them up here.

There are some Gundam toys called Fix Figurations that are of higher quality than the regular MSIA's (better plastic quality, paint and detailing equaling MG kits, etc.). They're in the same scale as the the 1/144 MSIA's, but they come with a buttload of accessories. Unfortunately, they're rather expensive. I've spent $40-50 on a RX-78GP01 Gundam "Zephyranthes" (Gundam 0083). But as far as I'm concerned, it's very much worth the money. :D
