Damn, I followed this comic religiously for years. Starting at limited series #0 all the way up to #50, and then I crapped out on comics entirely. Still have em all bagged and boarded. I would love to go back and read them (they're so silly), but no time.

I collect the comics, although my local comic store closed up at issue 74 and another didn't open until Issue 123 so I have a big gap.

I'm excited for the new Sonic game if that counts. It seems like its going to be awesome. I just want to play as Sonic the Werehog

My favorite sonic game was 3&Knuckles. Adventure 2 was a close 2nd. Sonic PWNs and always will PWN Mario

yes it was. Im gonna say something that no one else agrees with, but Jason Grifith does a better job as sonic then Ryan Drummoid.

BTW: Since this topic is not just about the comic, but sonic in general, why not rename it "Sonic the most way past cool seires ever!"

Yes it was apart from the annoyingly long loading times then 2 seconds of dialogue then an even longer loading time and then you start the level without being told how the stuff you have to do works.

Yes it was apart from the annoyingly long loading times then 2 seconds of dialogue then an even longer loading time and then you start the level without being told how the stuff you have to do works.

That was annoying, but I love all things Sonic (Exept the hentai) so it was great imo.

Backtracking slightly, Id say my favourate Sonic game so far has to be Sonic 3 & Knuckles, I loved every part of that game.. hell I still play it now!!..

A close second place would probably be Sonic Rush Adventure on the DS..

Sonic used to be awesome.

I remember when the Sonic games first came out.

They were amazing, I would stand in line at Sears waiting to try the Genesis just so I could play Sonic.

The cartoon was plain awesome, and by cartoon I mean Sonic Adventures or whatever the first one was called. Not the terrible poopy XTREME remake in Sonic Underground, or the sub-par anime that is Sonic X.

But Sonic really has passed his prime. Sega doomed Sonic when Sonic Adventure came out for the dreamcast.

Sega tried to do what Nintendo did to save Mario, they tried to give Sonic the Mario 64 look but take on more RPG elements than Mario 64 had.

But they took Sonic away from what he does best. Run.

While Sonic adventure was awesome, it was one of the first games I got for Dreamcast, and Sonic Adventure was popular. It was really the downward spiral for Sonic.

By taking away the thing that made Sonic who he is, they gave us a good rpg.

However when they tried to reintroduce speed into the 3d RPG element, with Sonic Adventure 2, they failed to bring the same charm of the first game by forcing people to play as certain characters which took away the appeal. Combined with pretty bad controls, the game kinda failed.

Of course the Dreamcast failing didn't help things at all.

But Sonic wasn't also helped with the fact that Nintendo gave us Sonic Adventure 2:Battles, which brings us to a topic as to why I'm starting to hate Nintendo as a company, but that is a different story.

A crappy port with slightly changed whatever-the-hell-Nintendo-made-different-in-the-game.

Following that we got the mass amounts of crappy sonic games, that again tried to make Sonic something different than what he was. Like the Snowboarding game, sure snowboarding was XTREME at the time, but honestly who gives a @#$% about snowboarding games?

Sure you had the 2d platforming games for Sonic that game out on the GBA, DS and PSP, but those got little to no attention compared to the console games, and the console games for Sonic have, like I said all sucked since Sonic Adventure.

Sonic Unleashed is no different. The controls suck, moving at that speed in a 3d environment, you need precise controls, and the game doesn't have it. The dual-world gameplay really is pointless, and would have been better suited for a released around the time Nintendo was releasing all their dual-world games. Not to mention the combat sucks, God of War combat ≠ Good Game.

The GoW style combat worked for God of War because of the nature of the game combined with the epic setting, the writing, and the stunning graphics.

Sonic Unleashed just had the combat and non of those other aspects.

Sonic is a dead almost 30 year old franchise. Let him rest in peace.

Sega needs to put The Hedgehog down.

Sonic is way past being reinvented.

I miss the days when Sonic was just a platformer

I loved the Sonic games. They had all the fast-paced platforming that Mario didn't. The new stuff just leaves me cold.

And Zero Punctuation is fantastic. Good to find a reviewer not caught up in the hype that sees stuff like Tomb Raider and Halo get rave reviews for, at best, mediocre games.

..um, I might not be the best person to say what its like, as I didnt play it for very long before turning my DS off and deleting it.. but, as an RPG its ok I would say.. If you played Sonic games back in the days of the Megadrive/Genesis, this is nothing even close to it. The exploration is pretty slow and felt abit awkward.. the combat is ok.. it just didnt really feel or flow like a Sonic game, more like an ok RPG with Sonic & Co thrown in..

If you like platforming and speed and want something along those lines for your DS.. Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure will be right up your street. Personally I think Sonic Rush Adventure is one of the best Sonic games Ive played since Sonic 3 & Knuckles.. but by all means see for yourself
