It sounds cool, but it's probably something I wouldn't venture to do. Just think, would he like it when he gets older? Maybe you could make it something close, like Ryan Pax. Just my take.

Orion is honestly a different yet not quite out there name. Pax however is odd and most other kids will probably knock him for life about it. I think Orion, with a normal middle name would work but still allow you to remember where the idea came from.

I agree with that too, it was my second thought.

Indeed. He was also a pretty cool guy in Greek Mythology. How many other mortals got that close to seducing the virgin goddess Artemis?
And he also has the option of going by plain-and-simple "Ryan" if it turns out the name gets him static in school.

Orion Pax sounds all right (not like Bus Stop #8--I've heard of it), but, like people said, Ryan's more normal and sounds the same. As for Pax, Paxton is a boy's name.
Or pull a George Costanza and name him Seven.

I thinkit's awesome. I'm naming my first son Nolan Ryan Remar. I've told all girlfriends this is NON-NEGOTIABLE!
Orion Pax is a pretty TF name though. Very creative, and you can't make fun of it too much. Orion def. has posibility to be made fun of, but you could always go by Ryan, or even cooler, just straight Pax. It's def. better than the TF name I was going to call my son, but Prowl Sludge would be just too weird. Maybe she'll let me go with Frenzy though...

Orion Paxton sounds awesome actually.
I really don't see why anyone would make fun of a kid named Orion though. I've always thought it was an awesome name.

You shouldn't screw around with your kid's names.
It's weird and it's not fair to ever make the child explain the dumb reasoning behind its name.

Not all reasoning is dumb though. My dad named me after Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers. Total awesomeness

Orion isn't a commonly used name, unless you're a Greek Hunter or a collection of stars. John is a common name, Mike is a common name, William is a common name. Ryan is a common name, but I never never met nor heard of anyone named Orion.
Ryan Paxton, however, is actually a good name.

I guess I don't have to worry about that since they're my favorites. But that would suck

I don't think Orion is a bad name. Pax might be pushing it.

Gotta go with Punch here - don't mess with your child's name.
I'm a teacher. I see all kinds of messed up names - usually just odd spelling variations of common names (like Mycle for Michael). Iv'e known a Seven and his sister, Siete. Then there was Fartley (poor kid). Female was another good one (pronounced Fem-all-lay). The parents got this one because on the birth certificate the nurse circled 'female' and asked them for the daughter's name. Not speaking a word of English or understanding English culture, they assumed that names were given by the doctor. So Female it was.
I do have a friend who is a big Red Sox fan. He named his son Fenway Parker. Fenway is a pretty cool name though. Just hope he does not grow up to be a Yankees fan.
Orion Pax is just too far out there. It won't be cool when your child is an adult.

There's is so much wrong with this picture you're painting. It's frightening that parents are going this far to name their children. It's one thing to be hip, trendy, or even funny...but when you go batcrap insane or just plain cruel to name your children, you've gone past the boundaries.
The instant I get to pick a name for my child, I'm going to make sure it's a normal name. Even if it's boring, it's better than Mycle or Siete.
I think people are going nuts.

Good suggestions from a lot of people here.
I agree leave Pax out. Probably Orion too.
Why not just name him Optimus Prime, and the next one Megatron and be done with it? After all, that is what Dane Cook would do, and when has he ever been wrong???

Farce of the Penguins
Good Luck Chuck
My Best Friends Girl
Mr. Brooks
Any movie where he has more than 5 minutes worth of lines.
Also I'm going to have to agree with CP and Shadow, kids will take any opportunity, no matter how much of a stretch, to make fun of a kid's name.
Better not to cornhole your kid into a lifetime(or 18 years) of having to explain that his name comes from a relatively obscure cartoon character involving robots that turn into cars and trucks.
There are a lot better names out there that could be used as a substitute.

I've heard of two parents who named their child William (first name) Robert (Middle), which sounded like a good name, only to realize later, in horror, that they accidentally named him Billy Bob.

Do it. I want to see your kid screwed for life. After this kind of ideas, its funny how people still wonders why collectors are called nerds, retarded, etc. Try to separate the hobby from every aspect of your life.
