I can't believe the site is actually advertising that.

I guess for the right price it is ok to show discrimination. I'm all for freedom of speech but this isn’t the place to get into this highly controversial topic.

SEIBERTRON keep the political crap out of this site!!!

BTW I already emailed them. I just wanted to state my disgust with you all.

It is a prop in California that if passed will make gay marriage illegal.

The ads are all over the place here in Cali. The Mormon church is the largest contributor to this prop.

In my opinion if gay people want to get married let them. It causes no hard to anyone. "Vote Yes to save Traditional Marriage". Well sorry to say but traditions change and California is usually the first to do so in the USA.

I just think this isnt the place to put up an ad that if for putting down people for what they are. It's like not letting women or African Americans vote again.

That only is that complete and utter bull ****.
F*cking religious nutjobs trying to drag everybody who isnt them down.

Mind, concidering the reason High Command was banned, it dosnt suprise me that the ptb in this site might suport that proposition...

Before people go off at management, Ryan doesn't choose the ads. Google chooses them. Ryan however last I checked does have SOME semblance of control in that he can choose to turn certain ones off which is why you need to tell him and let him know.

Max_Prime, are you in California? If so that's probably why you're getting the ads. These ads tend to find out stuff about you like your interests and location and generate ads based on that.

Yes, I am in California. I figured it was regional but I didn't know it was based on what Google supplies.

"Smart ads". Their cookies track you around the net, gathering your interests, combine that with where you are and they produce ads targetted to your location and interest.

If it makes you feel better, as an Australian, for some reason I get a lot of Chinese dating ads. :?

Would you believe Orson Scott Card once said that if Gay Marriage is made legal, he would try to overthrow the US Government?

In other news, Orson Scott Card is insane. I mean, I know Ender's Game is a good book, but after reading all those psychotic, homophobic (Despite claims that he's not homophobic; he doesn't hate gay people, he just wants them to have to marry people they don't love to get the benefits of marriage) blog posts, it becomes somewhat difficult to read.

Whoa. Watch out. There are a lot of "f*cking religious nutjobs" that don't agree with prop 8, me included. Also, this is the type of thing that got the Philosopher's Forum the boot.

I am seeing too many Yes on 8 crap myself.

Pisses me off as I don't agree with the mindset. I have known many homosexual people...Hell I am related to one.

Love is love...nuff said.

You think with all the financial issues these days they can spend that money that is going to ads about props that most people already have a clear decision on or just don't care either way to something more helpful to everyone. Then again it sounds like this is religious group sponsored so money being spent poorly not too surprising.

Interesting thing I notice I see a lot more of the No on Prop 8 ads on TV, but online the yes ones seem more frequent. Couple more days of this.

i play this game to not worry about the burdens and troubles of everyday life. seeing the prop 8 crap is annoying as hell. if i wanted something to give me an opinion on props i'd walk down the street and talk to people' not avoid them and play online.

if i actually cared about prop 8 i'd vote.

now lets all agree advertizers are scum and get back to playing the game.

Can I just add that the Mormon church (LDS) is not contributing to this proposition?

I'm LDS and I know for a fact that the LDS church does not contribute money to anything involving politics. That does'nt mean the members can't contribute money to whatever they want, that just means that the church as a whole does not.

I'm going to say that I honestly don't care if someone's gay or not. I don't have problems with anyone unless they try to force their lifestyles on me. My beef with gay marriage is that it's not a mainstream lifestyle. By that I mean, they chose something that's not what the rest of the population does and they now want to be treated equal. I honestly don't think it's right that you should be treated to the same benefits that straight couples are allowed to have. I think if you choose to be in a homosexual reltionship then you shouls accept the fact that you will not be able to get those benefits.

Does'nt California have Civil Unions? Homosexual couples still get all the same rights as married couples minus the official marriage. Does'nt that work?

Instead of bitching about ads that Ryan has little control over.

Me thinks someone should try a registry cleaner, Ad-aware or something of the sort.

Unless of course you'd like to donate to Seibertron to make it an ad-free website.

I am completely against prop 8 ... my husband and I have gotten in some heated "talks" about it .I feel its unfair and discriminatory..

one of the scare tactics is that if we dont stop gay marriage they will teach our kids about same sex marriage in school ..which is ridiculous.

I was shocked though today when my 6 year old came home from school ...all excited about yes on 8!!!!!!!!!and how she wants to vote for a certain president just because hes popular and cool... I guess they are having a mock election in school tomorrow?WTF ok so now I have to explain to her that ...if they vote yes on 8 two people that love each other wont be able to get married..and thats unfair... (so even if you vote yes, now you still have the teachers talking about same sex marriage in school )

If they are talking to little kids about this it makes me wonder what other props they are talking about??

It doesn't seem to be all that accurate about what you browse the most. I've yet to see an ad for Comic books or pornography.

Neither is being a toy collector, or a gamer, or someone who regularly downloads anime. You're basically saying it's different, and therefore should not be allowed.

robofreak wrote:By that I mean, they chose something that's not what the rest of the population does and they now want to be treated equal.

Black people wanted the same thing. Just putting that out there.

It's called discrimination.

robofreak wrote:I think if you choose to be in a homosexual reltionship then you shouls accept the fact that you will not be able to get those benefits.

Okay, here we go with the word "choose." Do you choose to love a woman, or does it come naturally?

robofreak wrote:Does'nt California have Civil Unions? Homosexual couples still get all the same rights as married couples minus the official marriage. Does'nt that work?

Because it's not official! That's the whole point!

I don't understand why two people of the same sex aren't allowed to get married, but a man and a woman can even if they just get divorced a few years later.

Merc With A Mouth wrote:It doesn't seem to be all that accurate about what you browse the most. I've yet to see an ad for Comic books or pornography.

Mine are almost always related to the page I'm on. If I'm in a topic about comics, it'll show me ads related to Marvel or DC, for example.

It must be random or something. I just looked at the "Ads by Google" spot and it had something about a Prop 65, not 8. Which after researching a little, seems to be an environmental act that make companies tell people when they're poisoning them. Sounds good to me. Now it has ads for a TF G1 boxset and "Transformers Sound". I hate Google Ads. They suck. Half the time they're not relevant. And the other half they lead to a hazardous site.

Gay Marriage will not destroy the sanctity of marriage. Heterosexuals are doing that just fine all on their own.

I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised this thread hasn't gotten locked.
