Yet another great author has passed. My father was always a fan of his books. I read a couple of them myself (you can probably guess which two). It's sad to see him go.

To those not familiar with his work, he was the author of Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Twister, Congo, and was the ceator of ER not name a few things.

Agreed! Did a dinosaur get him? But seriously it's a great loss.

Someone needs to tell people to stop dying. =( This is really sad, I have so many good memories of reading Jurassic Park and watching the movie.

Ditto, it's the only book I've ever read several times.

At least as an author he will live on in some capacity as long as the human race preserves its literature.

I wasn't even aware he had Cancer, but I guess at least he got 66 years of life, that's not too bad a run.

His name wont be forgotten in a hurry, almost every book he ever wrote has been converted into a movie, so many more people know of him than if he was only an author.

Wow that sucks something fierce, I remember first reading Jurassic Park back in 4th grade, followed by Congo and Sphere.

Those books were awesome.

It sucks that he passed away, my only hope is I hope he finished JP4(or 3 if you wanna be fickle) that way we can give him a good movie to go out on.

JP4 or 3? What's the ambiguity? Did he not write 3?

Edit: Just did my own research (howzabout that?). JP3 was never a book.

That was my reaction when I saw the news on the Washington Post website.

His early books were great reading, helped me move on to other authors like Robert Jordan and David Eddings. Reading his books was like reading a summer blockbuster on print. he will be missed.
