Okay, now I am totally convinced you're just messing with all of us in some sick twisted game of feigned ignorance and ridiculous statements just to get a negative response.

Okay, I'll believe you this time, but I'm watching you!

Grr!
Shamefully I have Hamtaro and Bijou McDonalds plushies in my car. They have been decorating my rear view mirror for the past... five thousand years. I don't even remember when I got them... They are that old.
*Commits Harikari*

I thought suicide was sepuki? Or am I getting words mixed up.
Dude, stop changing your username every 2 days. It's seriously getting annoying.
I watched a few episodes of Hamtaro, but always thought of it as something you play for 5 year olds to shut them up.

I got it wrong anyway.

It's Harakiri, I'm too used to Harikari because it's used so much in bloody British comedy.

Anyhoo... Harakiri is a form of Seppuku.
It's all pretty grim.

kush kush kush
batta batta batta batta
hamtaro was AWESOME.
and harakiri is ritual disemboweling as your best friend is standing by to chop off your head so you don't suffer. its used when you bring dishonor to your family name. you commit harakiri to keep your familys honor by admitting your shame and killing your self with wour wakizashi.

Classic? Gundam is classic, Evangelion is classic, Akira is classic. Hamtaro is as much of a classic as Blue's Clues.

And he has a point too. Hamtaro was nothing more than a gimmick show to get little girls into anime and buy plushies in mass quantities. I'm just grateful it did'nt spread like the cancer that I call Powerpuff Girls.

those are cult classics. granted they were good, and gundam is almost 30 and and akira is like 25. by those definitions I'm a classic.
lupin the third is a classic. speed racer is a classic. granted these are also cult classics.
hamtaro deffinately shouldn't qualify as a "classic" any more than bots master, the bionic 6, mighty orbots, or he-man.
what are we considering classics? old? famous? things we remember fondly?

Typically age and popularity determine whether something is classic or not. But by your examples, the Godfather movies are cult classic. Cult classic and classic are two very different things. Cult classics are usually very good, but didn't see much popularity on release, yet managed to get a fanbase going, like Evil Dead. Classics usually win major awards.
Hamtaro is neither old nor popular. It's not a classic. It's not even cult classic.

The easiest way to define a classic is by how easily it falls into obscurity.
I'm willing to put money on nobody here having thought about Hamtaro for a long time before this thread came up.

Ever seen the movie Equilibrium? I's one of the best films ever, but is rarely ever talked about. It's also considered a cult classic.

There is nothing sad about it.
