What happened to tv? (again)

Ok, so Im sitting here getting ready to put on some of my favourite shows all excited an that only to find out that pretty much all of them arn't there (with the exception of The Office)

Anyway this isn't just a rant I have a question, what was so important that they took off 30 Rock and My Name is Earl this week? I found out they're taking a break with life on Mars US after 7 episodes, which is bullshite and doesn't make any sense

also am I right that Family Guy, American Dad and the Simpsons were postponed because of the 24 special? (which was awsome!)

and finaly while Im on the subject of TV The Shield Finale rocked-ass, a few loose ends left dangling but ultimatley a pefect ending

-
Oh If anyone has any suggestions on what else I shold watch new or old I'd love to here them, otherwise I'm gonna stick on the Cowboy Bebop movie

WARNING! - Tekka spolers the shield a little bit in the next post

Ronnie got screwed, he needs to escape from prison. They can call the show... uh... Prison Break... yeah...

As for what happened to the shows, it was Thanksgiving for our friends over the water... So I guess things were busy. Some of the shows I usually watch did air but have not been distributed as they normally do. I'm hoping they pop up at some time today.

I have no idea if the ones you listed aired or not though. =(

Life on Mars is in break because they only did the first half of the season first to see if the ratings would be solid enough. Seeing that the full season was conmissioned those episodes are in pre-production for Jan 28th, baring no pushbacks.

As far as other shows last night, It's a holiday and NBC fells they can get more ad dollars by showing a movie than their regular line-up, that's what will happen.

Shield spoilers below

Oh Man! tell me about it, I can fully see them making a movie/spin off, that smirk Vic has after the 5 minute silence could take you anywhere - he could be off to bust Ronnie out. also what happened with Dutch and the killerboy maybe Dutch is the killer..

as for the Office and Earl I checked the internet and he says they're not on till next week

Right I s'pose that makes sense (both points)
Stupid thanks giving (second point)
the thing with Life on Mars (fist point) is that so far they've been copying the English vertion all the way- and It had 2 series with 8 episodes each so they missed out the series 1 finale because they want to carry it on? are they gonna start making original episodes and/or change the end?

Life on Mars.

Thou much of the US series has followed the UK edition so far it is important that due to the way the Original ended and it's complete run of 16 episodes that the team working on the US one already spoke with and discussed that they will be making changes for US.

As for copying episodes there are changes to the order and circumstances for all of those:

WARNING SPOILER ALERTS BOTH US AND UK

1 "Out Here in the Fields": (UK 1/1) almost identical, however Colin Raimes is given a twin, and the rooftop scene with Annie is replaced with Sam talking to child Colin.
2 "The Real Adventures of the Unreal Sam Tyler": (UK 1/2) First half is identical second half changes completely
3 "My Maharishi is Bigger Than Your Maharishi": (UK 1/5) Those the murder aspect is kept, The change from Man U. Supporters roughing up a fellow supporter to set up a conflict with Man Cty fans over to a Vet killing his gay lover hopeing to pin it on Hippies, requires a complete rewrite.
4 "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadows?" (UK 1/4) More or less the same but the original is a smaller role for Sam's mother, and creates a red herring with his moms red dress.
5 "Things to Do in New York When You Think You're Dead" (UK 2/2) sorry i don't remember the uk one as much for this ep The entire case is different as it involved robberys and not the death of a child, Sam's mentor unseen previous in the UK series was involed in the first US episode, and the addition of Clams funeral which I don't remember being in the original.
6 "Tuesday's Dead" (UK 1/7) another fairly large rewrite changing a man holding a newspaper hostage so they print his life story to a man holding a hospital hostage to get help for his mentality challenged brother, but the 2:00 PM deadline and the life support were kept the same.
7 "The Man Who Sold the World" (UK 1/8) same father conflict, same Annie in a red dress in the woods, different ending.

And of course the stange team of Keisha, Windy and the old tramp replacing the Test Card Girl & Bubbles.

As It stands there are still 2 first series episodes and 6 second series episodes that can be copied over at which time they have to find a way to replace UK 2/2 as the american produces have said that what happened to "Simm" Sam is different to what is happening to "O'Mara" Sam so I highly doubt even if they use a Sam back in the present situation that it will be handled the same way.

After all that they will have to start coming up with fresh ideas or start taking episodes from Ashes to Ashes.

Wow you noticed a lot of differences I didn't, most of the time I just got a general I seen this one before vibe not knowing where the line blurred - eather way this show definatley stands on its own

After watching the first episode of the American one, I when and downloaded the British first episode to see how similar they basicly were. and downloaded the rest after watching the first ep. I've still a few eps of the original to fully watch but i'll likely do that over the next week seeing reruns and holiday programming is starting up.

Then I have to decide if I want to watch A2A afterwards.

you haven't seen the ending? in not gonna ruin it, but im glad there changing it for the US version, something didn't seem quite right with it to me

Ashes to Ashes is good, worth watching for the Gene Geanie alone

I haven't watched the ending but I know what happens to Sam in 2006, what happens in 1973, and the 80's aftermath (and new questions about Sam) after Gene tells Alex, all thanks to wiki.

But I can see how the way it's resolved in the original series jut won't fly with the current one, so things should get interesting.
