I saw it on IGN. Personally I think it will kick ass now, this will not suck like Speed Racer did. And yes people Piccolo is green.

As corny as this looks, it was awesome hearing a live action "kamehameha" being yelled.

I'll be there at a midnight showing.

I had very low expectations of this movie, but after watching that it may not be THAT bad after all.

Still don't expect it to be a box office success however.

Same here.

The thing about this being corny...I mean, look at the source material. The main enemy for part of DragonBall was a blue imp who traveled with a talking dog.

I'm still disappointed that Jacky Chang isn't Muten Roshi.

But that doesn't look bad.

That kamehameha sounded so badass.

I'm a relatively new DB fan...got into the DBZ series and now working my way through GT. I'm not that familiar with the manga or the first series at all. I'd heard rumors of the DB movie being done, but had no idea it was coming this quickly. I'll dfinitely see it, just because I want to see that Kamehameha in "real life". What will be interesting is them trying to explain the energy powers...and will GOku turn out to be an alien warrior? :-?

The news has been going around for well over a year now.

That's one of my excuses. 8)

Same way they always do: harnessing one's inherent Ki energy, and focusing it into a coherent wave of destruction.

Probably, but they probably won't get into the thing with Saiyans this early. People might complain about how similar Goku's origin is with Superman's. Aside from which, Saiyans were not mentioned in the original Dragon Ball, and Goku wasn't shown to be an alien until DBZ.

Most are saying that the villains in the next movie (if there is one) Will be Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta. Then if there is a 3rd, Frezia.

Makes sense. I feel weird saying this, but I really hope they don't go to Namek. When you base two movies on Earth, basing the third one on going to another planet just seems a bit ridiculous.

Is there anough of a fan base for this to really be successful? How much do you all think the showing of the series on stations like Cartoon Network will increase awareness of the brand? I hope this does well..I really enjoy the show.

Are they even still showing Dragon Ball, DBZ, or GT on Cartoon Network anymore? I haven't seen it on the guide in years

Dude the show's been over for over 10 years and they're still making games for it so I think yea there is a huge fan base for it.

Actually, no. Ever since they stopped doing the uncut episodes, the show's been MIA from Cartoon Network.

Heh, looks like it could be good, if you go expeting a cheesy goofy popcorn flick. And your not offended by whatever they leave out.

Damn, I was hoping to actually start watching it again. I miss it quite a lot. I wish I had the money to pick up the box sets :-(

Regarding the fan base, Dragonball Z may not have the following it did 7 years ago, but there are enough fans in Japan alone to warrant new video games, card games, figurines and such every year.

And don't forget the re-DBZ, where 100 episodes are going to have the voices re-recorded, the animation touched up and be released on Japanese TV from April 2009.

Doubt the movie will be anywhere near as successful as the cartoon, which is fine by me.

Just in case anyone wanted to know what the creator thinks of the movie

Akira Toriyama wrote:As the original creator, I had a feeling of “Huh?” upon seeing the screenplay and the character designs, but the director, all the actors, the staff, and the rest are nothing but “ultra” high-caliber people. Maybe the right way for me and all the fans to appreciate it is as a New Dragonball of a different dimension. Perhaps, this might become a great masterpiece of power! Hey, I look forward to it!!

Well, if the original creator likes it, it can't be all bad. But there's one particular thing:

Akira Toriyama wrote:Maybe the right way for me and all the fans to appreciate it is as a New Dragonball of a different dimension.

That is how people should see every adaptation ever.

I know a few folks on this website that should take that advice...

I can't stop wondering if he meant "ultra" as actors who didn't make any better than B-- -class movies...
