Who's the "better" fan?

Help settle an argument.
My friend and I have been collecting TF's for years, but recently, I've had to stop being a completist, due to lack of job, and only buying characters I like. He says that because I'm no longer willing to get every one, that makes him the better fan. I say that I'm still a fan, even though I now mostly just read the comics and watch my DVDs. Which one of us is right?

I think both should be slapped for even having a discussion about it.
Honestly.
There's no such thing as a "better" fan or a "true" fan. You're either a fan of something or you're not. It's that simple.
I knew a guy who only read TF comics. Never owned a single toy, watched a few of the cartoons, but his primary focus was the comics.
Did that make him less of a fan than me? No. He was a fan just like me.
Some people and their silly arguments.

Sorry if this may not actually answer the question, but I tend to think there are tremendously more important things to worry about than who likes Transformers more, such as the environment, the killing or mistreatment of babies and children, world hunger, suicide rates, and resolving global affairs.
Not that I want to turn this thread into something else, but, in other words, I agree with Burn, if possibly for different reasons: Some arguments are just silly.

Joke topic.
I can't believe someone who's been here since 03' would ask this question.

Fo rthe sake of answering the original question:
Neither of you is right. It is better to be happy to support your collection as you are able to and not to be overly concerned about it's status against other fans.
There is no better fan, and thought towards what makes one only causes vanity and strife.

Woah there, let's not open
that particular can of worms...
And Counterpunch, how typically American: quoting somebody out of context! Haven't you used that as a premise to go to war, oh wait sorry 'to enforce regime change' before?

Psh. If I had my way, we wouldn't have a 'South' America. Just one big United States of Economy.
Manifest Destiny: It's not just for the 1800's anymore.

The Founding Fathers would have been so proud.
The ones who believed the man has an inherent right to govern himself and live free of tyranny? The ones who believed in life, liberty, and the pursuit of property?
Yea, they would because most South American countries are denied those basic things in one form or another. In fact, they probably suffer more for not being part of the Union now by virtue of having none of its benefits and the majority of this side of the world's burden.
It's not an issue of nationalism or ego to think that those countries as they are and the people would not prosper more as part of the Union.
All this and more under my presidential party platform of 'Why so SERIOUS?'

Sadly the American conquest of South Ameriac shall not come to pass as North America will fracture and by 2100, this continent will be divide by a Dozen Nations. The conflicts of the 2020's will be short and bloody with Quebec, Texas, and Virginia seeing the worst of it. However the NorAm Economic Council (based in Havana) will restore much of the balance once established in 2065 covering us from as far North as the Arctic Alaska Territories, to the Panamian DMZ to the south, bring remains of Canada, Mexico and the 49 States back together.
The Kingdom of Hawaii will continue to resist joining NorAm as most residences perfer their economic union with Japan.
Yes, I am taking this topic even further off-track.
