Mmmm, no we won't. This is a Paul Anderson film. He's producing, directing, and writing. So that means the movie will only involve names of the characters, the title, and Dracula. It will be a butchered video game film, just like the RE movies.

Uhhh, Paul only directed the first Mortal Kombat. He wasn't even involved with the second film.

Also, Mortal Kombat was Paul's way of saying "hey, I made a good video game film, now nobody will complain when I make thousands of poopy ones!"

I happened to like Mortal Kombat and the Resident Evil films

So did I. This movie will kick ass.

Did you know ol' Uwe is making BloodRayne 2? It takes place in the Wild West. I **** you not.

As for Paul, half the bad movies attached to his name he didn't really make. He only did the first Mortal Kombat and the first RE. And he didn't direct DOA, he only produced, meaning he had jack-all to do with it.

He wrote the second RE, but he didn't direct. But he DID do AvP, which I think was awesome. He's not in any way tied to AVP: Survival of the Fittest.

He's also doing a movie based on Driver, and I see no way to mess that up at all. It's an undercover cop movie, with car chases and shooting scene, and not much else.

I hope you mean you liked AvP as a popcorn flick, and not as in a comic or video game adaptation of the Aliens vs PRedator comic and games.

Everyone even slightly associated with that DOA movie should be chained to a big stone and be cast into the ocean.

I recently enjoyed playing through symphoney of the night (the 360 xbla version). That game takes the price of "WORSE VOICEACTORS EVaR1!11!one" so i'm pretty sure this movie will at least do better in that aspect

Then again, it's not as if castlevania characters have a wealth of depth and a involving story line. It's just a good platform/rpg mix up (scratch the rpg part for the earlier versions before SOTN). So it's very hard to go wrong on that part.

I knew about the comic and games, but I saw it more as a sequel to Predator, and a Prequel to Alien.

And damn it made a good popcorn flick.

Most Castlevania games after SotN came out had stories, but other than the name "Belmont," it was hard to connect one to another, aside from certain games. (Like Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow, and the two games with Trevor Belmont, and the Simon Belmont games, and a few others)

Besides, the movie is supposed to focus on the early days of Dracula's career as a Vampire, meaning we'll probably see the likes of Lisa and Alucard, and maybe some random Belmont.

It doesn't matter if they make a new Belmont or use someone like Simon. They make a new Belmont every other game anyway.

I've been tracking the movie for several months now. Based on the reports I've read, Anderson swears that Simon will be the main character, but the movie will span centuries. In a press release, he explained it as, "Dracula Begins."

I am not expecting much. Castlevania was never stellar in the story department--most games are long hallways and backtracking with the occasional thirty-second conversation with an NPC thrown in. The Castlevania producer, IGA, has made some grounds with story continuity as of late (Symphony of the Night, Bloodlines, Portrait of Ruin and Aria of Sorrow are now all linked through recurring characters and references to past events), but the fundamental premise has never really been much more than "tan and faceless dude moves right, whips bad guys."

So it's not like Anderson has a lot to screw up.
