the fact that I've never heard of this movie up until right now leads me to believe it will as bad as the Jean Claude Van Damm version, or worse.

Since there was nothing posted by the OP. Here is the trailer for the movie.

I hope the movie does good, so we can get a proper SF movie after this. But I won't get my hopes up.

I think it will be better this time. The first one takes place before Bison's tornament. Chung Li is out for revenge for Bison killing her father Dorai. Charlie Nash also is after Bison. There will be two other sequels. If it does well. I'm sure the sequel has to do with Ryu going around the world fighting the greatest fighters. While Ken is searching for Ryu to fight him in a match. Eventually Ryu squaring off in the end with Sagat. I think the third will have to do with Bison's tornament in Street fighter 2. Any of the fighters that win gets a chance to fight Bison in the end. Well I hope it turns out that way the trilogy. But so far they are doing the first one justice. I'm excited. Of course I'm going to check both Imdb ,and Rottentomatoes.com before I see it.

The fact that this movie is not about Ryu and Ken, two of the most important characters of Street Fighter, makes me doubtful of this movie. I'd rather see an origin story about Ryu, Ken, and Akuma. So I hope this movie does well enough so that will happen. But then the last one failed and we're getting a new movie, so who knows.

Out of all the characters, why Charlie?

Makes no @#$%ing sense to me. Out of the plethora of characters they could choose, who have something or other to do with Bison.

Now, is this a Prequel to the crap-fest that is Jean Claude's Street Fighter?

Or is this a reboot of the series?

M. Bison: Fixed that for you, U.N. stooge. Am I going to have to smack a bitch? Oh, by the way, electro-magnetism. It powers bullet trains, and it's what I'm going to use to electrocute your genitals.

I would suggest that everyone get themselves a copy of the animated movie instead, and make sure to choose the English language soundtrack for the music... just plug your ears whenever Guile says something and you'll be fine.

That movie is still badass to the nth degree, especially the fight with Bison and KMFDM blasting during when Chun-Li is fighting Vega. I think I may dig it out and watch it actually.

Incidentally, I've never been able to stomach seeing the names of the bosses switched back to their original positions. Having Vega named Balrog just doesn't work for me.

Just because Raul Julia made the most badass and awesome Bison ever. Doesn't make the Street Fighter movie good.

Cause Bison murders Charlie Nash afterwards. Then Guile , Charlie's best friend, wants revenge against Bison and looks for him at that tornament that Bison sets up later. Chun Li and Nash know about Bison before the others. Cause this film takes place before the tornament. Keep in mind at the tornament, is how Bison gets so impressed with Ryu's fighting ,and that is when Bison goes after Ryu.
I'm surprised most of you didn't know this.

Kirsten Kruek as Chung Li... I'm there. Plus, it looks to be entertaining and they have some halfway decent actors in there.

It could be interesting. Not much is going to beat the SF2 Movie, ever, but maybe they are on to something here. Perhaps they are trying to find just the right people to be RYU and Ken...

It would be fun to get to know some different characters into the know.

Who knows what will happen lately it seems when they make a movie out video game or comic or toy line. The studios seem to be really trying to do a good job unstead of just pump out another piece of crap film which no one will go see.

That doesn't look anything like Street Fighter to me, it looks more like Rush Hour 4.

No Ryu or Ken? Screw that...

But Neal McDonough, the guy playing Bison should do a good job. He's a terrific actor.

These are hard economic times. Fox is struggling like the other companies. Street Fighter The legend of Chun Li also gets around the internet. Including youtube. Check there for the trailer and some scenes.

I have a feeling it will be good ,and they are starting from the very beginning this time. The director of this film along with fox are planning two other sequels as well.

Wrong, Chun Li and Charlie Nash have more connections to Shadowlaw than either Ryu or Ken. So the first one starts off with her. The sequel will be Ryu and Ken. Based on the Street Fighter 1 1987 video game. The third one will be based on the Street Fighter 2 1991 video game. KK, she said in the interview that she will not be in the sequel but possibly in the third installment. So there's a hint for you.

Who said it needed to be Shadowloo? Why not have them fight Akuma or Sagat?

Or Dan! :P

I would pay to see him do a massive charge up all dramatic like on the big screen, then throw a tiny little fireball that dissipates before it hits someone.

Then they kick his ass with impunity.

Yeah, Dan challenges Sagat, and has a massive buildup to an anti-climactic Gadoken. The next shot is Dan being tossed through a wall. That would be awesome.

Akuma or Dan were never in the Street Fighter 1 game. Ryu feud was with Sagat ,and the other world fighters in that game.

Who said this was based on any particular game? I'm not talking about a sequel when I say it doesn't need to be about Shadowloo, I mean why couldn't they do a movie about Ryu and Ken?

It's not like it's being completely faithful to the timeline, since if this is meant to be before the events of Street Fighter, it wouldn't make sense for Vega to be around because Bison didn't recruit him until the time frame of the Street Fighter Alpha series.

And I wonder if the live action movies will ever remember that Vega is supposed to be Spanish. =x

It's gonna be weird not having Ken & Ryu as the main characters in this movie, but at least JCVD isnt in it to bugger it up.
