Eh, it's not great, but it'll do for an origin story.

No need for the battle-helmet in the first movie.

I understand that they need to make changes, but this is just... bleh.

Cobra Commander should look like Cobra Commander. This is not Cobra Commander. People need to be able to recognize these characters.

I seen this pic of the Combat Heroes on TNI about a week ago

The heroes line always looks weird you can't really tell what he will look like as a normal figure.

I think movie Destro with his mask on is just the original Combat Hero version with a new body...the CC, well, I don't know how much we can trust a shrunken, made to look cute version, to figure out what the movie version is like.

I can't shake the feeling that they didn't go with the traditional fabric covered face because someone, somewhere, will take it as "all terrorists were towels over their heads, LIKE MUSLIMS!"

So yeah, i'm thinking Cobra Commander has become the latest victim of political correctness.

I thought they said they werent going with the hood because it would be to reminiscent of the Ku Klux Klan

Probably that too.

Still comes down to him being a victim of political correctness.

I'd prefer the hood. It adds a level of mystery and intrigue.

Hood or battle mask, doesn't matter to me. But I don't want the armored commander look yet.

And I think Burn is probably right, and thus so original sin, that it has to do with a terrorist leader being portrayed politically correct regardless of source material, instead of correctly portraying the character compared to source material. Don't remember many clan members being spotted in blue hood.

Although I feel like getting the hood to look right, and stay on would be an interesting feat.

Watch the arrivals at the Oscars on Sunday night and be amazed at how some of those dresses manage to stay attached to the sheila's boobs.

Since this is supposed to be origin story maybe he doesn't have his battle helmet yet and this is just something he threw together to cover up his disfigured face and he might get his battle helmet at the end of the film.

If you don't think you'll like it, then don't watch it.

Wait, that would be to easy wouldn't it?

Common sense doesn't really exist anymore does it?

Here's an idea before watching it check out what the posters of Imdb say about G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra ,and also Rottentomatoes.com for all the critcs reviews. If most of them say it's good. Watch it. If most of them say it is not good then don't watch.

Did you see the "Dragonball" movie trailer? (they really r*ped the concept of ...well... everything there) If everybody who sees something crappy in their favourite franchise would quit, there won't be any franchises left.


Back on topic: I'm not a first-line GIJoe fan, I'm not even sure who half of the participating Joes are, but this Cobra Commander looks weird, the mask looks translucent... But it's good to see that Destro will wear the metal mask.

I dont think that will reflect what Cobra will look lik in the movie. U can clearly tell that its a GIJOE toy aimed at 3 year olds. Often times "creepy" characters are made friendly looking for small children. My sis when she was a kid got a 101 Dalmations littliest pet shop set and it came with a Cruella Diville and she had a nice smile on her face she didnt look evil or scary at all.

Could be because the hood just looks silly.
Of course, C.C. didn't just wear a hood. He had those helmets, too.

I never could really get behind the hood. The imagery it evoked was powerful and really sold the idea of 'he's evil', but it just seemed so impractical.

I guess partly, it always looked like his head was being eaten by a Pacman ghost, and partly I was always plagued by this cartooning mental image of CC sneezing and the whole thing poofing up.

Not that I'm really a fan of this take though - looks like a blatant rip of Ultimate Deadpool.
