All right here's the deal I've decided to get back in shape because A I'm getting tired of being single and B I'm getting ready to look for a house and I figure I might be able to get a better deal on a loan if I look like less of a health risk.

Now to put this in perspective half a decade ago I was pulling 500 jumping jacks a day easy in addition to around fifty each of various other exercises (situps, pushups, crunches extra) and just now I had to struggle just to do a mere 100 jumping jacks..... I have realy let myself go over the last couple of years.

Ummm, I'm not convinced on the 'being in shape = instant relationship' equation. I'm in reasonable shape (I can hump an 80 pound ruck 5 miles in under an hour and I have discovered I can fit into a boy's large t shirt), but I'm single. It could be because a) I'm ugly as deepfried sin or b) I'm obnoxious; but it seems to indicate 'shape'-ness not the only qualifier of relationship-itude.

On the plus side: waaaay back in '96 yours truly wasn't able to walk without a spinal truss and crutches, and even then three steps felt like a bloody marathon. (And do not even ask about going down stairs!) So I can say with a certain ethos: it comes back. And it comes back quicker than you think. Go for it.

HK, who still gimps, just at 5 mph with 80 pounds of assorted crap in an ALICE pack on her back. Hardcore. Rrrrrrrr.

Yea I see where people can take that statement wrong. You're right looking good and healthy does not = instant relationship but it does help; most women are at least slightly superficial even if they don't realize it.

I got married and got a mortgage before getting in shape. It's not the only thing. Couldn't hurt, though.

Whu?

She can carry an 80 pound rucksack for 5 miles in less than an hour.

or.

She can have sex with a rucksack worth £80 for five miles in less than than hour...

As far as I'm concerned, if my girl isn't okay with being slightly scrawny, then thats her problem.

Good to show commitment though.

gettin in shape can definitly help your chances with the ladies, not only because your in shape, but when you look good you tend to feel good boosting your confidence which women REALLY seem to like...

Both!

And simultaneously!

As far as I'm concerned, if my 'boy' can't outshoot me with a firearm of my choosing and bench more weight than I can, that's *his* problem.

HK. It's not about looks, it's about *performance*. (So saith the ugly chick).

I've been trying to get into better shape. Every wednesday and sunday I do this thing called Dagorhir, insanely fun as hell, dynamic exercise too. Can't get used to carrying around a tower shield while swinging a flail.

Aside from that I've been walking more, that and doing metalsmithing, swinging a hammer for hours to shape a piece of metal is one hell of a workout.

Now that's what I call multitasking!

@ Hugo Yea I've heard about Dagorhir and while it certanly sounds fun I'm not big on the whole "Not keeping score" thing.

@HK Don't take this the wrong way, but the more of your posts I read the more you sound like my kind of woman.

Oh, see, we keep score. Everyone keeps score. While overall there is no official at the larger events that keeps track of who is winning. (Considering with some events totaling over 300 people, many apart of their own factions etc it is kind of hard to keep score especially since in the midst of things you end up losing track of your team)

But score is kept either you mentally keep track of who on your team dies, how many your team takes out before you lose one etc.

Also there are events, like the Olympics coming up where it's a 1v1 tournaments.

Only the huge massive events like Ragnarok don't have an overall score, but at the end of the day you usually know who has "won"

You do it. There's no other way than to get sick of the "not doing" and start liking the "doing."

Don't set dates to start doing things, like "New Year's resolutions" or "for my Xth birthday, I'll...". Just get up and do it.
