Slipknot is not goth music. Slipknot is varying styles of metal. Don't listen to anyone trying to label anyone. If your going to listen to Slipknot though, start out listening to their first major label cd entitled Slipknot. Each CD sounds completely different, but the first one is a good place to start.

Iowa is by far one of the greatest angry/pissed off albums of all time. Seriously, if I'm pissed off and I need something to listen to to vent, I throw that on and it helps so much.

Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses is probably their worst CD, but its still amazing.

All Hope is Gone is slightly political, but sound wise, it sounds like a combination of Iowa and Volume 3.

Slipknot is by far one of my favorite bands and they put on one of the greatest live shows you will ever see. Don't let anyone tell you what to listen too or not. If you enjoy listening to it, listen to it.

Listen to whatever music you want.

The music you listen to does not make you who you are.

Hell I listen to folk music, viking death metal, Weird Al, Weezer, Sir Mix A Lot, Aha, Queen

although that describes the type of person I am. I'll tell you this, I was a viking long before I liked viking death metal. And even then half the viking metal bands out there kind of suck.

Nothing can 'make' you goth; you are or you aren't. It's not like it's a disease.

I'm not sure why all the goth hatred anyway. Goth as I know it has been dead since before you were probably even born. What passes for goth these days is a thinly veiled nostalgia from when (allegedly) music didn't suck, Anne Rice could almost write, and Brandon Lee had a career. Goth's become the new punk--kids wearing t shirts of bands that broke up before they were toilet-trained, dressing funny to scare their parents, etc. Goths (real ones) are the nicest, silliest (I mean, who really believes they're a *vampire*?!), grooviest, most harmless people on earth. We're so nice, we don't even get pissed off when high schoolers in all of their ignorance somehow try to turn us into something horrible.

Besides, if your 'friends' are so shallow, narrow-minded and stupid that they won't like you if you listen to ONE BAND different from what they like, ummm, you really wanna be friends with that sort of bigotry? I mean, it's your choice and all, but I like friends who like *me* and not my CD collection.

The best part about high school is that it *ends*, and you can get on with your life in some place that doesn't suck.

HK, college: four years of grooviness.

:APPLAUSE: Couldn't thought of a better way to state that. I consider myself a bit of a goth/bookworm/Sci-Fi nerd personally ( :-B ), but my husband used to be all into the Goth scene in high school, still is to an extent (not to mention, he loves Anime more than I consider healthy #-o), so I know how someone can be mistreated for being a supposed "screwball". The only reason why people quit picking on him is because he made quick friends with two of the biggest guys in the school (I was friends with one of them as well, but never really got him to be my bodyguard. Oh well :? , ). I really don't get why people would go out of their way to try to make the supposed "weirdos" of the group feel like slag, though. Guess it's the quickest way to make themselves feel better/take people's eyes off of how F-ed up they are (:| .

Another thing I agree with. What business is it to anyone what someone else listens to? They don't like it,they can listen to their own stuff, and get off people's nuts for listening to what they like! :-x

The best part about high school is that it *ends*, and you can get on with your life in some place that doesn't suck.

Thank God and everything else for that! I would've blown mine to slag if I had to stay there one more bloody day after my four-year sentence...Yeah, I still have a few issues with it even though it's been quite a while since the last time I stepped foot in that aft-vent of a building. Oh well, I'll get over it :?

Anyhoo, there's tons of music/remakes/what-have-you, but there's really no genre of music that I can think of nowadays that could really give people cause to label its listener a "Goth". Emo maybe, but Goth? No.

Now remember, the type of music you listen CAN affect you, but only if you get obbsessed. Examples of this are:

Always telling your Fav radio station to play that band. (Guilty)
Buying all the merchandise (Guilty)
Having all of their CDs. (Just a few more to be guilty)
Idolizing the members (Guilty)
Changeing your screen name reflect this. (Guilty)

Don't be an SA24! Obsessions are creepy!
