well that's just the way the world is, crazy leaders thinking everyone's out to get them and want to show they can fight. Don't worry even if they attacked their weapon systems aren't quite up to snuff with us or England or France by the time they tried anything we would have shot their nuke out of the air and blasted that goddman Kim Jong dude to pieces. The fear now is that he'll try to sell them to other countries and then they'll have nukes too. Uggg what an age we live in... I just hope one day we can just get rid of nukes altogether but I doubt that'll ever happen...

I don't think they have the H-bomb yet and they have second rate missiles that are rapidly improving.

Now, if you're scared being a few thousand miles away, imagine how I feel! I'm stationed in Japan, a stones throw away.

Now, if they send me to Korea, so be it, I'm not going to be one of those guys who joined the Navy and gets pissed off when we actually go to war.

Done it twice, third time would be different county, different people trying to kill me.

Ya know what they call US soldiers stationed in Korea? Speed bumps. Infantrymen have a life-expectancy of 3 seconds should the war ever get hot.

I've been terrified of Korea ever since I was in the Army, a (mumble cough) time ago. They are a very desperate people. Individually, it's tragic. In large numbers, it's chaos waiting to happen. They'll do anything to try to improve the rampant starvation there--Kim Jong Il takes the UN food aid and sells it for more money for military research.

I'm sorry you've joined me back at Square One: The Scary Square.

HK, eh, well, at least I speak Korean.

Everyone has H-Bombs. The US has enough H-Bombs to wipe North Korea off the map five times.

You've been terrified of North Korea. South Korea is an ally.

Thanks for the correction, but....

There is no "South Korea" except in Arrogant Imperial American Cartography. It's the Republic of Korea (ROK), if you want to try to snipe with accuracy. And they sure didn't treat us soldiers like allies when I was in.

And just to be precise: Eh, I already speak NORTH Korean.

Well, they are. The Republic of Korea was among the first to be named Major non-NATO Allies by the US.

You mean the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. A mouthful, yes, but that's what they're officially called. And the language is the same for both countries, not sure why you'd need to make distinction.

A) I'm not sure why you really seem to be going after me lately. Did I offend you somehow? Throw your puppy out a window in a past life? Whatever I did, I'm sorry to have offended you. Just ask for or demand an apology: I'll be more than happy to give it.

B) Ummm, with all due respect, no. They are NOT the same language, at least as far as my experience goes. They are SIMILAR, but not the same. Two key differences: pronunciation and etymology. One: The number three in 'South' Korean is 'set': it's pronounced 'soy' in 'North' Korean. South Korean uses two different systems for numbering--'pure Korean' and 'Sino Korean', so I can say hana dul set net dasut , OR il i sam sa o....

North Korean hates anything 'Sino' so they don't use any of the Sino Korean numbers, NOR do they use any words based from Chinese. For example, many South Korean verbs have a Sino Korean base and use the generic verb 'hada' ending. So, like, thank you is kamsahada--conjugated, you get kamsahamnida (barring any honorifics or tense markers). North Korea doesn't like the Sino, so thank you there is komapsoda--komapsumnida. There are LOTS of Sino Korean words in South Korean. North Korea has 'purified' their language, and use archaic and sometimes really goofy substitutes for words they've had to strip out in this purification process. I know for a darn tootin' fact (having done radio intercept) that they use entirely different words for things like tanks, telephone lines, supply chain, troop movement, etc. Different vocabulary--NOT the same language.

It's the 'same language' only if you consider Haitian Creole and French the 'same language'. Can a South Korean read North Korean stuff? About as easily as you could read Middle English, yes. Could a North Korean read South Korean stuff? MUCH more difficult, since they refuse to acknowledge all the Chinese words. Not having mutual intelligibility doesn't sound like the 'same language' to me.

You're super-smart and it's really silly of you to start a quibble a) about something so trivial and beneath you, and b) that you haven't really given any evidence to prove your side. Could I be wrong? Yeah. But at least a) I've said what I know with actual examples and b) what I've said is correct, at least as of 10 years ago. If you'd like to refute my examples or something, absolutely go for it. I'd love to learn, even if it means being proven wrong. But please don't just give the high handed 'bitchslap!' without providing any real evidence. You're going to have to work to actually *prove* me wrong. But do it! I want to know where I'm wrong.

HK, and I learned it for Uncle Sam!

Well I don't know how true this is but I heard that they didn't test any bomb underground and have sent out news to make people think they have one

This other is a fact

North Korea and Iran don't have the rocket technology to make missles that actually will hit the mainland U.S.

The countries right that have to worry if they do have a bomb are Japan and South Korea

North Korea's the crazy one, South Korea's the more sane one. Is there a need to go nitpicking and stating their full names/designation? I mean, it's like, if everyone understands what's being referred to, isn't it fine already..?

Anyway, back to the topic, the N.Korean people are totally in love with that Great Leader of theirs... Even when he's living in obvious luxury and wealth. Oh welll.... -_- Though of course, my personal choice of action would be to blow the Northie up in a huge BOOM that would do Bay proud....

....What?

Yes, massacre a country that hasn't done anything to us in over 50 years, just because they MIGHT do something in the future. That's not the least bit insane.

Yeah, great idea!

Whilst we're at it, Britain should carpet bomb every man woman and child in the USA because we dislike their stronghold of nuclear weapons and choices in foreign policy!

It doesn't matter that not everyone voted for Bush - the very fact that their nation voted him in is good enough reason to kill millions indiscriminately!

It's a great plan. Kill millions of civilians because we don't like the government. That's a fantastic idea that I'm sure would have absolutely no world-wide consequences whatsoever.

Besides, you'll never have to sunbath ever again! Plus you won't have to fear the world wide recession anymore. The more you think about it, we'd be doing you a favour!

I was talking more about the "Destroy a country because they looked at you wrong" point. But yes, as long as we're committing genocide because we don't like other countries, America probably had it coming from a few countries.

Except for you, Dead Metal, you know what we did to Germany last time they looked at us wrong...

Bah! Germany was loosing anyway just a few more months and it would of had the same effect. Besides Russia and Britain did most of the work, US just cam in speed stuff up and took all the glory.

North Korea wouldn't dare to try to launch an nuke at the US and probably even out allies like Japan. We have plenty of missiles out in the ocean. I should know, I was stationed on a ballistic missile sub. 24 missiles/sub x 8 (or 12, depending on missile class) warhead per missile = 192(288) warheads/sub. I think we have them covered.

Only thing I would be worried about is they mess with us, then we mess with them, then China messes with us. And no one want thats.

China would probably not take us through Military action. They have no need to. All that needs to be done on their end is for their government to flood the global economy with all the US notes they hold.

Same result. Although, it would probably tank the entire global economy with it.
