Takara Brave Series

OK so is anyone out there fans of the Brave series. For those who may not have heard of it Brave was a series Takara developed after G1 finally died in Japan. Some of the designs of the first series Brave King Exkiser were originally intended for Transformers and the line even featured some G1 repaints/remoulds which were also peppered throughout the entire series. The only other series I know anything about is GaoGaiGar which is considered the most popular of the Brave series. It is also the one furthest removed from the Transformers in terms of design and story. GaoGaiGar ran parallel to Beast Wars which lead to the return of vehicle based TF's. The final Brave series was something like Brave Police Force J Decker which was cut short for Car Robots (RID). There have been unconfirmed rumors over the years that many of the early designs of Car Robots were meant for the J Decker line.

So yeah basically if you got any info to add or something to correct help a brother out.

Your J-Decker info is off. :P Here's the complete list of series:

- Yuusha Exkiser (Brave Exkaiser)
- Taiyou no Yuusha Fighbird (Brave of the Sun Fighbird)
- Densetsu no Yuusha Da Garn (Brave of Legend Da Garn)
- Yuusha Tokkyu Might Gain (Brave Express Might Gain)
- Yuusha Keisatsu J-Decker (Brave Police J-Decker)
- Ougon Yuusha Goldran (Golden Brave Goldran)
- Yuusha Shirei Dagwon (Brave Command Dagwon)
- Yuusha-Oh GaoGaiGar (King of Braves GaoGaiGar)

This site has the majority of the mecha appearing in the Yuusha line of toys. A nice thing to know is that the design of the Dinobots (except Grimlock) were used for the bad guys of the first series, they were known as Geists.

My favourite would have to be Land Bison, ever since I saw a KO of it in a toy catalog. I want it so badly!

There's a final 'Brave' series that was never animated (or at least no animation has been released' - Saint of Braves Baan Gaan. It ended up only forming part of a video game series, but it still considered a true part of the Brave series by Sunrise.

As for the Car Robots/J-Decker thing, J-Decker preceeded Car Robots by 7 years, so it's clearly a bit of bollocks.

Wow I knew that about J-Decker. Where did my head go. I think the problem is that people believe the designs of the RID "Car Brothers" are "Hold overs" from the Brave Police line. Funny though years ago there was a Japanese exclusive Transformer toy guide that showed a rough sketch of a fire truck with the name Rodimus. The truck bore a strong resemblance to J-Decker. Man I want that guy but I want him with the other two bots that combine to him. Incidentally on E-bay you can find a ton of Korean releases that were strict Takara imports; not KO's.

Actually, they were licensed by Takara and produced by Sonokong. Same quality (as far as I know) and easier to get by :P Sonokong was also responsible for releasing BWII, BW Neo and Car Robot in Korea.

Ya know I couldn't remember the companies name for the life of me. It's funny the toys are the same quality as Takara originals but sell for allot less due to people being wary of anything Korean.

I have a lot of Brave figures, never watched the shows, but pretty decent figures...reminds me of TF victory.

Also, welcome to the Website ProwlDC2! I'm one of the few here that picked up on the DC2 part of your screen name.

I've got Mightgaine and Mightkizer combined and sitting atop one of my shelves. Nice lookin' figures.

Does anybody know the name of the red and blue firetrucks that combine into a big ass robot?

EnRyu & HyoRyu, who combine into ChoRyuJin. Been looking for the transformable/combining versions of those two for ages.

Well on E-bay you can find the afore mentioned Korean releases. Although I've never been able to find both EnRyu and HyoRyu. Speaking of the toys any word on what BMP-03 is or have they discontinued the line?

I'm not up to date on Brave stuff. I just buy what looks like it would go well on my shelves.

The blue/red firetruck robot is packaged together in a giftset. I will need to check Ebay when I get off of work to see if it's the same one. There is a buch of Brave Series stuff at one of the hobby shops I frequent. Very little of it is really selling me on it, though. Great Mightgaine I bought just because it was cheap. Around 35 USD for both figures.

There's been a Korean HyoRyu on eBay for ages, but one's no use to me without the other. I've never seen a Korean EnRyu.

There's also a Japanese ChoRyuJin set that's been listed (and relisted) recently, but I'm suspicious of it's origins.

They are the reissues/repaints of the original figures. There is a third figure in the set that I have not bothered with. I think it's called Mightgunner, but I'm not sure. I believe the line itself is called Brave Revival Legends.

That's the Build Team, I got them a few years back. Nice figures with a show-accurate transformation/combination, just lacking a little in the poseability department. Rather neatly, they can combine with EnRyu and HyoRyu as well as each other!

Uh sorry I missed it if you were trying to tell me something; I was asking about which Mightgaine you had. Also were the rescue team supposed to combine with the construction team or is that just a bonus type deal?

They combine in the series too, so it's intentional.

I should've known that. It's Takara, everybody combines with everybody. Now does the the gift set of ChoRyuGen come with the eraser head or is that available separately? Something else I was thinking. Isn't it odd that ADV brought over GaoGaiGar before King Exkaiser? I would've done Exkaiser first due to the line being the closest to Transformers and some of the characters looking like G1 characters.

As far as I know, an eraserhead was never made for the DX figures.

It makes a lot of sense actually. Exkaiser isn't anywhere near as popular in the West as GaoGaiGar, probably on account of it being a very kiddie-centric show and looked quite dated.

I don't really see that any of the characters look much like G1 characters (not US G1 anyway), so that's not much of a reason to bring it out.

In the west? Try the everywhere. Even in Japan, GaoGaiGar is the only Brave to actually make an appearance in Super Robot Wars.

Also, ADV didn't license GaoGaiGar, Media Blasters did.
