I used to watch Family Guy a lot, especially when it first came out in 1999. But lately it seems to be getting old. It's not that the quality has gotten worse (that's in my opinion, but I seem to be in the minority). It's just that the jokes aren't as interesting as before. Don't know how many more times I can watch Peter do something stupid, Stewie say something condescending to someone, someone insult Meg, Quagmire make a less-than-subtle sexual joke, etc.

I expected Something Something Something Dark Side to have occurred quite some time ago. And that it hasn't aired yet really grinds my gears.

I don't like the earlier episodes. I like the ones from 2005 and later. And I love the TF references.

I hope that's this year's Season Premiere. Blue Harvest is arguably the greatest Family Guy ever, and right behind that, PTV. There are other great ones, but those two are at the top of my list.

Anyway, I think Family Guy is getting stupider. The stories are sometimes simplistic and usually forgotten, if there is even a story for that episode. Cutout gags really are becoming more rampant. Yet I still watch, and I still laugh. It's dumb, lobrow humor, but it's fun  .

It's like I say, a cheap laugh is a laugh nonetheless. You don't have to be smart to be funny, just look at any of David Zucker's movies.

Mmmm!! Piece of candy!!

I can never look at James Woods again without saying that. I could be watching John Carpenter's Vampires and fully expecting him to say that line as he is killing a vampire.

I used to be a real FG fan. I would quote lines from it that were appropriate to the situation in the voices of the show. I used to talk about the show with friends. I even found the "Have you heard about the Bird?" episode amusing and would torment my wife by breaking into the song randomly.
I have since stopped watching the show, however.
I was not at all amused when Peter slaughtered Quagmire's cat. If that's the kind of crap they're using for jokes now, then I'm just gonna stick to KOTH.
That kind of stuff is why I hate Robot Chicken. Call me picky or oversensitive, but cats and dogs getting killed just doesn't tickle my funny bone. :-x
The show was great up to that point.

Yeah. You remember how Peter would savagely beat the chicken? Or that cutaway where he was Marry Poppins and ended up crushing two small children? Or when Stewie repeatedly mauled Brian for $50, then Brian pushed Stewie in front of a bus? Or when Stewie killed "New Brian" and threw him in the trash and made it look like suicide? Or any of the other countless acts of violence in the show? No, a cat getting killed is a big deal.

[PS, as you read this, read each sentence in a slightly higher pitch]

while I enjoy Family guy I have most of seasons cept the last 2. I somehow find the newer episodes alittle less funny then when the show started. Some of the jokes that Shadowman posted seem sort of tastless and were just added in for shock value. I still watch Family Guy and I will continue to I just think some of it needs to be toned down a tad.

I kinda agree with Cobalt. I haven't stopped watching the show entirely, but I won't watch that episode again. For the record: I laugh at Peter and the Chicken, it's so over the top you can't help but laugh. Stewie beating Brian over his gambling debt? Same thing. I was squicked out by Peter crushing the two kids though. I didn't see the New Brian episode, missed that one somehow...

Anyway, too many really good episodes to name them all, but Airport '07 is my current fav.

I'm a huge Family Guy fan I have all the Dvd's except the latest season on DVD. I lmao everytime i watch FG, to me its one of the funniest cartoons/shows on TV. I don't find any problems with their jokes Stewie beating up Brian, Peter fighting the Giant Chicken. All that stuff is funny to me, after all its only a cartoon, anything is possible. My best Family Guy is a tie between Blue Harvest and Patriot Games.

Exactly. I don't care for the Patriots, but my favorite ep is Patriot Games, just because Stewie beats the hell out of Brian. Blue Harvest was funny as well. I hope they make the other 2. Also, I like the hour-long Stewie Kills Lois/Lois Kills Stewie episode as well.

too bad it ended as a simulation, although it wouldn't have mattered considering everything would have been back to normal the next episode

(i find it very funny when the characters realize they are in a TV show)

I laughed so hard at the end, when they showed it to be a simulation. i hadn't laughed that hard since the episode of South Park where Cartman beat up a midget. Or, got his ass kicked by a midget.
