This won't mean squat to most of you young folks, but for those of us growing up in the 80s, John Hughes was a movie *GOD*.

Some of his movies:

Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Sixteen Candles
Pretty in Pink
The Breakfast Club
Weird Science

He was only 59.

HK, depressed. Another part of my childhood gone.

Didn't care for Pretty in Pink or Sixteen Candles, but I loved the other three you mentioned. Great movies.

Kinda young still. Tis a shame...

A local cable film channel recently showed three teen movies back-to-back-to-back. The Breakfast Club, followed by Can't Hardly Wait, then High School Musical 2. You know what it was like? It was like seeing those "sequence of evolution" drawings, first a monkey, then a lucy, then an australopithecus, then a neanderthal, then a modern man, only it was BACKWARDS.

Everything good died in the early nineties. We just shoulder on, with the occasional nostalgia tribute to lighten the burden. :(

Wow...will 2009 be the worst year for celelbrities? And we're barely over halfway through!

But I did love The Breakfast Club the best. Pretty in Pink was OK, Sixteen Candles was good. Never saw Ferries Bueller or Weird Science...

R.I.P. John Hughes

Breakfast Club is one of the best movies ever made.
