MOTU CLASSICS r frustrating to buy!

I just found this board so I'd thought I'd open with this thread. I've bought about 4 characters from Mattycollectors.com MOTU Classics collection. Buying these figures is so frustrating. 3 of the 4 of the figures I've bought, I've paid twice as much for because I've got them on the after market. Mattycollector does not produce enough of these. To be sold out of each figure within hours of being released. That's ridiculous! It's these factors that have caused me to be VERY selective about which figures I've gotten.
HEMAN - gotta have him; in fact I got 3.
SKELETOR - If I got Heman then I have to have Skeletor; got 2 even with the after market price.
HORDAK - didn't come out in 2002 and was fairly important in the series so I had to have him. Because MATTYCOLLECTOR.COM was so backed up they only let me have 1 so I had to pay after market price for a 2nd.
MAN AT ARMS - Wanted him cause he had 2 heads. Love the 2002 sword :D
HERO - Didn't get him on MATTYCOLLECTOR.COM BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T FRICKIN TELL WHEN HE WAS COMING OUT! I HAVE A LIFE! I CAN'T SIT ON THE COMPUTER ALL DAY AND NIGHT WAITING FOR THIS STUPID FIGURE TO COME OUT! So I end up missing out and end up paying higher after market price because he's a SDCC figure.

Wanted King GreySkull but his prices was ridiculus.

Anyway thanks for letting me rant! I will continue to be VERY selective about which MOTU CLASSIC figures I in order to finish my 2002 line (even though the figures aren't to scale :-( Looking for the Sorcesses and maybe King Randor

I would not mind picking them up but the hassle and price outweighs the pros.

The only one I really wanted was Hordak.. And I did not get him because he sold out so fast..

I grabbed the Hordak fig from BBTS, but I'm not too interested. I also have last year's SDCC exclusive King Greyskull.

I liked the Four Horseman designs so much better. Heck, I even bought the stuff that came out as only statues and not as poseable action figures. They still made some ultra cool stuff. Their Jujitsu is phenomenal. It should have been an action figure.

How much did BBTS have Hordak for?
I thought about picking one up from ebay but I don't want to be pocketbook raped by the sellers there.

Oh you just HAD to get me started on Mattel, didn't you!
While I enjoyed the 2000 line immensely, the incompetent handling of the line by Mattel was a disaster of epic fail. He Man and Skeletor in all their unecessary incarnations and repaints CLOGGED the pegs, while other characters like Mekanek, Merman, Evilynn etc could only be found after hair-tearingly frustrating and time consuming hunts that many times ended up with one going on line and paying insane prices for them. Important characters from the show such as Clawful, Hordak, Webstor, Stinkor, etc were not released at all, except later in the form of those expensive, brittle little statues ( I think they called them "staction figures" ).
Vehicles that were at best craptastic, and could not seat many of the figures because of the dramatic positioning of their legs. Then the show cancelled before the current story was even finished.
I was stoked when I heard that there was a classics line coming out that gave us greater detail while sticking more to the old school body form. But lo and behold, for all the reasons cited by SentinelA, this became an impossible dream. My local comic shops won't even stock those things, and with the availability issues I can see why. I think the economy has broken me of the habit of spending $20-$30 + on a $10.00 figure. And that's what Mattel's inability to gauge supply and demand has forced people to do. It's 2001 all over again!
I love MOTU, but I HATE Mattel. :-x

Mattel is just bad to deal with in general. Look at what they did with the Zan and Jayna exclusives at this years SDCC. On the MOTU front I really do love the classic line. The retro look is very slick with just enough of new to make it cool. The only one I am really shooting for tho is Webstor. He was always a fav of mine so I am hoping to get at least him.

i didnt go to sdcc this year, what happened this time? did they issue raffle tickets which you could only get at a certain time of the day, then come back again at a different time to buy them, only to find a long ass line where mid-way through they announced theyre sold out after waiting at least an hour?

.... oh sdcc memories.... thats why i dont really go anymore. its cool and all, but there are a ton of negatives.... its like a every 2-3 years type of thing for me

wow that terribly sucks.... what pisses me off the most is that they decided to just give them away to some fansite.... i guess somebody was close friends with someone to get that kind of hook up

Mattel has a bad habit of screwing toy lines up. They did it with the 2000 MOTU. They did it with Avatar the Last Airbender. Here's hoping one day they can get it right.

I've just recently discovered the MOTUC line but with all this trouble and poor service from Mattel, I think I'll pass. The figures look pretty cool from what I've seen, though.

These should have been made more widely available. I'm sure that Y'All-Mart and Target and the like still have a bad taste in their mouths after the 2000 fiasco, and likely wouldn't take a chance, but comic shops at least would have been a good alternative to the large stores. I'd have been snapping them up all this time if that had been the case, and I'm sure there are others here who would have done so too. Ah well, leaving monkeys in charge seems to be the corporate American way nowdays.
