Predator 2 was a total let down imo, if they do bring Arnold back for Predator 3, it might be worth it to watch. Come back Govenator! :APPLAUSE:

I liked Predator 2. I don't see why it's getting such a bad rap.

Predator 2 rocked! Danny Glover was great in it, so I agree with you two above in saying how I don't get why other people hate it.

Actually I heard this is the Robert Rodriguez-produced reboot of the Predator franchise, so I don't think it qualifies as *Predator 3*. And since it's a reboot, Arnold probably won't be in it for any more than a cameo, if at all.

No. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1424381/

While the film is often referred to as being a reboot of the Predator franchise, the film is rather intended to be a sequel to the original series.

In a recent interview Ain't It Cool News has had with Robert Rodriguez the following details were told:

- Though the script is not written yet, the plot "involves a very intense group of people stranded on a Predator planet discovering unspeakable horrors (that are not always from outside their group). So like the original movie, the title does have a double meaning". The story is also supposed to be character driven, based on a draft that Rodriguez wrote back in 1994.

- The film is trying to "(get) as far away as possible from the AVP movies". Rodriguez claimed that "As to how this movie will be viewed, one of the guys at Fox told me "No one is ever going to talk about AVP again after this film, I will stake my life on it".

So they're trying to get rid of AVP? Good, get on with making Alien5 then!
Still have to get and watch Predator 1 and 2, AVP woke my interest in them.

Alien is also getting a *reboot* with Ridley Scott directing. So that should be interesting.

I actually liked the AvP movies.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've picked out a nice cave to live in seeing as how the previous statement will see me shunned by society.

But yes, Predator 3, set on the Predator homeworld. I'd see that.

I liked the first one. The second was alright for an alien action flick, but if they didn't make it, the franchises wouldn't have missed out.

Again, Predators is not a reboot of Predator.

its all in the title....

for example "Alien".... then the next movie was called "Aliens"
.... now we have "Predator".... and they decided to go with "Predator 2", but now as a continuation in the series theyre adding a plural to the title a la Alien/Aliens, therefore "Predators"

with that said, i dont think its a reboot, it a sequel of the predator series

Alien 5 isn't a reboot, it's a prequel. =]

Huzzah for Ridley Scott taking the reigns again. He's like some kind of messiah saving the Alien franchise from dying in a swamp of Predator-fueled ****.

...

Alright, weird metaphor. You get what I mean though.

I didn't mind the first one. It wasn't Oscar material and the movies were better separate, but I didn't mind it. The second one was awful, for the "popular" reason. (Yes, I'm one of those). Also, the lighting in the last fight scene sucked and they could have done a lot more with the crossbreed. A LOT more.

QFT!

And I hope it doesn't turn out to be a reboot like they say it won't. I'm sick of reboots. Moviemakers are afraid of sticking with the previous installments? Daredevil is getting a reboot, Punisher got a reboot, Hulk got a reboot (Marvel loves reboots). Even though those first two were probably reboots in name only aside from a detail; so what was the point of rebooting them? Nowadays if a movie changes a couple of details from the first, the moviemakers think it absolutely HAS to be a reboot. The word "reboot" gets bandied around so much, they're starting to call legitimate prequels and sequels as reboots. I heard LOTR is getting a reboot with the Hobbit. Really...? A reboot? Or did they surely mean prequel? One of my pet peeves with movies: either it's a reboot every month or it's just being called one simply because it's a prequel. What a buzz word. (Sorry about the diatribe.)

Worked well for Star Trek, though.

the AvP movies were good. i liked the second one better.the predalien eating babies ftw. its reall hard to make better cinema than that unless its robert downey jr with a flamethrower and brown people. best carreer move ever! just watch iron man or watchmen and tell me its not awesome. people walkin around, skin on fire... ah true cinema.

can we just put the predators on a planet of blue elves (see: avatar) and let them hunt.

Im getting sick of all these 're-imagined' and remakes of movies. Can't Hollywood think of anything new.The original Fame for example is good as it is, why remake. So the technology has changed bfd. Reboots are a mixed bag for me. Like the original Predator, the creature design is cool plus it has a TF link.

:BOT: I remember hearing about Robert Rodriguez's Predators screenplay was written in 1996 and had Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger's character) in it. I doubt that Arnold is involved with this new version but I would love for a new Predator movie. :CON:

I too liked those movies, I just generally don't like it when something tries to make a crossover "canon" for something. I do not wish that AVP is going to get forced into the "main" Predator and Alien lines, although AVP1+2 seem to be a pretty good prequel to Alien.

Yeah, I'm up there with you about disliking it for the "popular"
reason (hiding in my own cave for saying that). Most of the things in AVP2 I could handle, but that movie had one and maybe two things in it that, to me, were completely unnecessary. However, people have different tastes.

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing what they do with this new Predator movie. Arnold's duties as governor are going probably going to keep him from being more than a cameo appearance in this movie (if even that). I wouldn't even mind seeing another AVP movie (just leave the babies out of it this time).

For the record, I'm right up there with those who don't understand what's up with the conventional wisdom that Predator 2
sucks so much. Do people hate this movie just because Arnold wasn't in it this time? I thought Danny Glover did an awesome job as the new lead (even though it does make me chuckle as it makes me think of something along the lines of "Predator vs Lethal Weapon"). Now I shake my head.

Predator 2 is light years better than Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. Much better quote material too: "Want some candy?" And it set us up for the 15 year tease of the Aliens vs. Predator with the trophy wall at the end with the Alien's skull on it.

AVP could have been so much more if they would have only set them in the future. Hell they could have set it right after Aliens. The Sulaco is adrift after ejecting the escape pods with Ripley and others and a salvage team goes aboard to see what happened only to find Preds and Aliens going at it.

I'm getting tired of repeating myself.

This is not a remake!
