Last minute manuver to the next lane on the freeway when the trailer truck in front of me made a sudden complete stop while going about 70 mph.

When I was 5 I got hit by a car. I was a little idiot playing with my friends in the street. I was told I got lucky that I was jumping in the air after a ball when I got hit. Had I been running, the car would have hit me in the chest full-force instead of hitting me in the legs and flipping me over the hood. I just broke both collarbones and bruised my legs. Still, for a 5 year old that's damn good, bouncing off a hood and windshield and living to tell about it. Too bad I don't remember. My very first memory EVER is waking up in bed after the accident, my arms in slings.

I've come close to dying or at least getting severely hurt several times. One time I was walking home from school and I almost got hit by a bus Final Destination style. One day I was at work we were throwing some stuff away in the dumpster. Two guys next to me had a Little Debbie display rack and they nearly dropped it on my head. If it weren't for my lightning quick reflexes and having a metal shelf to block it with, I'd probably have a caved in skull.

You're right, your life feels like a scene from Final Destination.

When I broke my back I was laying out blown waaaaay off the LZ for...hours? I don't remember. I remember watching the moon rise and thinking, wow, I'm going to die out here and I can't tell if the moon is waxing or waning. I remember when they finally found me I could hear them talking to me and I THOUGHT I was responding to them, but apparently I wasn't able to speak anymore and was just making weird noises. And I remember how scared the medic looked. Especially when he couldn't find any blood.
On a strangely semi-related note, was talking to my sister about two gunshot cases she had last week. One guy got a shot in the throat, the other in the liver (this guy had 6 previously healed stab wounds). We were talking about the prognoses, and she shrugged and said, actually, humans are a lot harder to kill than you think.
HK, comforting? Not so much.

I had really bad Guillan-Barre Syndrome when I was two years old. That's a disease that paralyzes you. I don't mean to brag, but it is pretty impressive that a two year old would live through that, or at least that's what my mom always tells me. That's the closest I've ever been to dying.
Except when I had Guillan-Barre Syndrome again in the first grade.

I came down with a bad fever when I was on High Dose Chemo and had no immunities. They had to put me in ICU. My Aunt tells me that I was talking gibberish about having to "go over the mountain" or something. I don't remember any of it. I remember getting taken to ICU and all that but nothing after that.
Other than that nothing crazy or "Final Destination" like has ever happened. I've been in a car accent but it wasn't major, I've been in crazy storms while out on water in a boat, and been in a plane that was struck by lightning (I hear that's common though). Nothing life threatening though. Well Maybe one of the storms, since if we capsized I can't swim so I'd have to rely on the life vest or my Retired Navy Uncle to help me.

I've almost died more times than i can count.
I've been hit by a speeding truck, been thrown threw windows, had 3 major car crashes (total'd a 70's muscle car), Bike accident goin 35 and hitting a truck head first, been held at gun point a few times, fell off a 3 story cliff, and those are the ones i remember well. I know there are lots more.
the only injury i've had from that stuff was road rash from gettin hit by a truck, and a chipped tooth from hittin a truck.
all tho i have managed to jump on a car speeding tword me and swing in threw the back window, and have had someone run me down and park ontop of me, with no injury...
Yay for not breaking bones!
oh yeah, i forgot the bajillion times i had near fatal alcohol poisoning.

Holy crap! You guys are the unluckiest people I have ever heard about. The closest I ever came was last week a car pulled out in front of me while I was on my motorcycle. Luckily it was on a 25 mph zone and I was able to stop. It was a close one though.

About 2 decades back I was riding to a local mall about 11:15 am on a Sunday.
From out of nowhere a guy driving his pick-up came roaring down the road from behind me. I shoulder-checked as I was coming up to a couple intersections, and thought everything would be ok as the guy was coming up the left hand lane (the road is 2 lanes in both directions) at the last second he realized he needed to turn onto a side road and rather than going straight and making a u-turn, he turns right from the lane he was in just as I was passing the same road.
I was able to see him start his turn with just enough time to try and turn to match. As he passed me my left handle bar touched his passenger door, and was enough to transfer some of his speed to me. I was able to pull away as he pulled to the left. I was able to get about 5 meters further before wiping out.
thou I had been a split-second from being a pancake, (the truck was large enough it would have run right over me and my bike.) I was just scrapped up, and my bake thou needing a bit of tuning was also fine.
The guy realized what had happened and had started to freak a bit saying "Oh god, i hit a kid" a couple times, until his buddy who he was coming to meet, ran out of the bar he was in, saying "dude did you hit a kid?, you just got your license back"
Suffice to say I could have made life pretty bad for the guy, but as I was only shakken and I had friends waiting I just dusted myself off and left. To this day I wonder what would have happened if I had reported the drunk basterd.

Well, it was good of you just to let it go. Since he was drunk, I would have reported his ass. Had he not been, I would have probably let it go as well. Everyone makes mistakes. But drunk driving is inexcusable.

Once, me and a friend went to this get-together that another friend of ours was hosting. It was winter and cold, so we were both wearing our coats, but obviously took them off when we got to the party. That's when I noticed that we were both wearing the same Megadeth t shirt. God, I could have died from embarrassment that time! Whew, count yourselves lucky you've never had that happen!

I nearly died from appendicitis when I was 8.
I nearly died, again, from chicken pox when I was 10 =/ They developed into pneumonia over three x-rays at three different times in it's development.

After two weeks of pain, I got carried away in an ambulance. Woke up feeling like an android in the ICU

Was there for a week with forced memory loss and stayed at the hospital for over a month. 2 liters of fluid in my left lung and 1 liter in my right caused an infection that shut down all of my systems except my heart and central nervous system. Nearly died three times in the hospital before finally recovering

EDIT: This was also where I found out I'm horribly allergic to surgical tape

well, latex. After another life threatening experience due to this, I was handed a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a box of Q-tips and told to "clean out the scar three times a day."

Would you believe strawberry poisoning was the third reason I nearly died in the hospital? Yeeea

Oh yes

I was finally able to have outside food, and I was having cravings for strawberries. My mom brought me some one night, went home, then saw on the news that every store was having to take their strawberries off the shelves due to a contaminated shipment.

Oh, the irony of it all.

As a female, I have to say the Grenade Range was the *highlight* of BCT for me. Sure, they rammed those grenades into my boobies (ouchie!) handing them off to me, but those...huge dudes wearing only a flak vest above the waist with those big ripped arms.... DROOL city.
Saw one girl who dropped her grenade *IN* the bunker actually go *sailing* over the wall, the dude following. Looked just like in those old bad kung fu movies where they obviously substitute a dummy, but it was real.
I went up there, and the dude told me "You're too heavy for me to lift--don't f***in' drop yours."
I told him he was hotter before he opened his mouth.
HK, not tactful. Even when my life depends on it.

OK, so I didn't really try to suplex Andre the Giant, but I really did come within inches of having the neighborhood mailman run me over when I was 13. I was crossing the street to get to school, and when the mailman was coming (we both had green lights), I completely froze up in middle of the street, like some kind of dream where everything runs in slow motion.

Glad you're okay. I choked on a bite of hot dog when I was about three years old. Fortunately, my dad was able to make me spit it out.
