That is badass, if it didn't have the mention of ODST, I would've thought it was the live-action adaptation of Halo. :-?

Cool commercial. I could have sworn I heard something similar to Han Solo's blaster sound effect at 43 seconds of the commercial.

Remember: Han shot first.

Well, the original live-action Halo turned into District 9 due to budget reason. Guess we'll just have to wait some more. :-?

Don't say that, or else he might just remake Episodes IV - VI to make his turn to the Sith complete.

You were unable to see the thread above your own where others are already discussing it?

He is already planning to do this. Search your feelings...you know it to be true. There is no stopping the Georgelactic Empire. Now witness the market power of this fully entrenched and prolific franchise!

Maybe the new remake can make Luke Skywalker less whiney, but seeing what he did with Anakin, I have no more hopes. :P

If there's ever a remake of the original trilogy, I wouldn't want GL to be in the director's chair. The reason is that, as I understand, the way he wanted Star Wars was only fully realized in the prequel trilogy. I think that a lot of what helped shaped the original trilogy was the hindrances of that era's level of SFX technology. Now with so much more that can be portrayed through digital effects, GL seems to be more inclined to indulge in the presentation of the movie than the scripting and plot. Other directors could put an interesting twist on things. I think Neill Blomkamp could do a really interesting movie/short film that is a pseudo documentary from the rebel's point of view...

But to bring things back around to the topic, I think that if the Halo movie project gets back up and running, Neill Blomkamp should retain his position as director. I just saw District 9 recently and I think he's the right kind of director to be at the helm of Halo.

I honestly don't know much about the game and its fiction. I've never actually played it, though I've watched my nephews play it a bunch. However, I've always liked the general storyline of the series and I really enjoy the art direction of the games. I'm not sure how much depth there is to the in-game fiction for the series but if there is good depth, Blomkamp is a perfect director to harness and utilize that existing fiction. If there's not much depth then Blomkamp is the perfect director to help flesh out the fiction for the movie. Considering the backdrop of a war involving aliens in Halo, Blomkamp's work in District 9 show he can do a gritty mix of documentary, drama, and action, which would be one good way of presenting the Halo movie.

I've read about Blomkamp's Landfall short film series and I'm looking to check them out to see what a Halo movie under his direction looks like.

First 8 minutes? They just made up some credits and put them before one of the live-action trailers for Halo 3.

The trailer itself, like all of Halo's live-action trailers, is top-notch. Makes me wonder why they canceled the movie...
