Help me find / identify a toy

A friend of mine once had a really cool toy spaceship back in the day (about mid-1980's, that is) and when I recently thought about toys, childhood and such, I remembered this one and thought "Wouldn't it be cool if I could find one of those for myself now?".
Sadly, I have no idea what kind of toy it was, whether it was part of a line or even who produced it. Even my actual memory of the toy itself is kind sketchy, but I'll give it a try anyway.

For starters, here's a quick sketch of various forms and details I do remember:
Image

Now for the description:
The sketch on the top left is a sort of bird's-eye view, showing the forked bow of the ship, its narrow mid-section and its tail section (left unfinished because I don't quite remember the form...).
The toy was rather large (for a kid, mind you). I'd guess somewhere between 30 and 50 centimeters in length. It was mostly bluish-grey in color, with some parts like the panels for the flip-out turrets (in the front section / top left) done in white (or near-white) and the turrets themselves done in dark red. It had several pop-out gimmicks, like the aforementioned turrets. Those I remember pretty well, and so you can see the deployed turret in the center sketch and a detailed view of the turret below that. Another pop-out gimmick I remember is shown in the sketch on the right: It is a bigger gun that popped up from underneath a "cargo" door in the center of the tail section (shown in the sketch on the left) and fired small red rubber balls (via pneumatic pressure) that were also stored in there.
The turrets fired small red missiles and the forked bow of the ship also had slots for two larger red missiles - one on each side.
The toy also had light-up features in some places, all activated with a single button and all blinking (or glowing... can't remember...) red.
There was also some sort of transformation gimmick where the ship got a bit longer, the front section flipped down and some other things happened. Not sure what that was about, but the ship did NOT transform into a robot or some other kind of vehicle. It just shifted stuff around a bit.

So...
Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Was it the Starcom series of toys?

Sadly, no it wasn't.
It didn't have any figures with it, nor did it have any real positions like cockpits or gunnery seats where you could put a figure anyway.
If I remember correctly, it was in a scale that a human-like figure in scale with it would've been too small to be of any practical use (thibk smaller than a ZOIDS pilot).

I thought Starcom too, those were cool toys.

I think my cousin had one of those (or something similar the guns look familiar and the size shifting) we used it as a base while we played with our Tfs, can't say what it is though, I'll have a look around and see if I can find something.

Here's a wild idea, was it "Mighty Max"?

Doesn't look that way.
At least, I can't see anything that resembles the ship I'm looking for using GIS, but if you thought of anything specific I might've missed it... Care to post a pic or a link?

Nope, not Mantaforce either.
As I said, I don't think there were any figures that went with the toy.

(But Mantaforce looks cool, too. Thanks.)

The only thing that comes to mind is a Kilrathi Fralthi Class Cruiser, but I don't think there was ever a toy of that.

Well, the Fralthi does look a lot like the ship I'm looking for (except for details such as the rear section which didn't have those large panels on the sides), but since Wing Commander came out in 1990 the Fralthi simply cannot be the correct ship, even if a toy ever existed of it.
The toy I'm looking for is fromn the mid-eighties or earlier.
