OK So last Sunday I just like many other Germans voted. And we managed to vote a government that's even more effed up than we had before

Now it looks like Guido Westerwelle will be the new German Foreign Minister, you know the guy responsible for foreign relations and help to maintain good political relations between Germany and other countries.

Let me say just one thing before I continue, FAIL!

Now yesterday he held a press conference and there was a BBC reporter, now he asked if he could ask a question in English, he did so politely,very politely.
The answer was in German.

"Just like in England you speak English at Press Conferences in Germany we hold them in German. "

he then went and insulted him and ridiculed him

"When we're in England and drink a cup of tea then we can speak in English! But we in Germany!"

Hmm, this approach to foreign affairs is very advanced. It's like reverse psychology foreign diplomacy.

Sorry, DM, but over here in the US that sort of arrogance is pretty much standard issue.

And when we have wacky politicians, they're wacky like birthers or 9-11 truthers or they think sterilants should be put in the drinking water and forced sterilization of women, and that kind of stuff. At LEAST, at the VERY LEAST, a prostitution scandal. Your guy? He ain't got nothin'! I don't think he could win Student Council President here in the US if that's all the dirt you have on him.

I like the sentiment. The actual response may have served to make him out as a bit of an ass, but I must say it's nice to see Europeans standing up for what makes us us.
