Halloween Costumes

Any ideas out there for Halloween costumes? I'm thinking of going as a Ghostbuster, but it takes finding a painter's suit or a jumpsuit in the right colour. Grab some boots, some elbow pads, print out a nametag and a logo, and I'm done. The proton pack shouldn't be too hard: Take a cardboard box, spray paint it and add some design stuff, attach a firehose to a weird-looking gun-type thing, and voila. I might just forego the gun thing and just have the proton pack.

I usually wind up being a Sith Lord for Halloween. Ever since last time I trick-or-treated I've had the same black robe and lightsaber, it's a really easy costume.

I think I might be a Borg this year. I have this Jango Fett armor that looks kinda like the Borg chest plates and aluminum foil makes a good substitute for that headgear eye stuff they wear.

I wanted to go as Master Chief from Halo, but my wife won't let me get the costume! :(

No way. You need the gun, that's part of the proton pack, it's the most important part. Without the gun, it's like a lightsaber without the blade, it's just not the same.

I have no plans for Halloween--I have no one to hang out with in-costume, and the outdoors scares me--but I will mention one thing I saw a couple years ago. Me and some friends were out causing mayhem (No lives were lost that we know of), and I saw a trio of kids--and they WERE kids, they couldn't have even been in middle school--in full SGC gear from Stargate SG-1, one of whom was carrying a paper mache Staff weapon. It was officially the most awesome thing I have ever in regards to Halloween costumes.

First rule, use the costume as an expression of your inner personality. Demonstration:

Actually Target has Ghostbuster uniforms (at least my local Target does)

I'm dressing as a StarTrek captain from the new movie. :-B

Thanks to my current style, all I need is some round sunglasses and I am going as John Lennon, although the hunter from left 4 dead would be good, as some friends of mine wanted to go as the all of the special infected. Now if only I can find some one who dose good zombie makeup. The only person I know is my ex Rachel, and she won't speak to me right now. So John Lennon it is. Not that I'm complaining at all.

I have a vague recollection of getting in trouble the last time I mentioned this, but....

My default Halloween costume is the Baronness from GI Joe, the cartoon version. Black catsuit, ammo belt, and my hair down. Piece of cake. I could probably update it to the movie one, since I do own a lot of vinyl.

I know, that doesn't help you but...Cartoon Joe characters are pretty easy to costume. The right shirt and some black pants and some silver facepaint, and you're Destro. Blue fabric over your head and a blue jumpsuit, you're Cobra Commander.

Just a thought.

HK, I will be at home scaring the neighborhood children. Like last year, when they all saw me chase that raccoon off my porch with a fork.

Oh Highbeam, you are just adorable. And I mean that in a completely heterosexual female totally not interested non pervy way.

Just...for the sake of us gun owners: keep your finger out of the triggerwell. Finger on trigger ONLY when a) on a target and b) intending to kill. Yes, it's a fake gun, but gun safety makes the police less likely to blow your head off and for you to get in trouble posting pictures of yourself with a realistic looking gun online. (The last two big school shooters posed with guns like this and...well, do I need to continue? It was...held against them).

HK, strictly in control of all pictures of her online. There's...one. No guns.

I've been meaning to wear a biker uniform, you know black leather pants and jacket and a couple of chains and then rub my head with gas and set light to it and go as the Ghost Rider but my mates told me that would be "bad" for me, I wonder why?

Guess it's going to be the same as every year, me watching horror movies wearing a scull mask and trying to eat stuff by stuffing it trough the tiny little mouth gap in the mask. God I love Halloween TV.

But I do mean on building a Samhain (the Ghostbusters villain) for my driveway, all I need is a pumpkin, some wood and an old robe.

Baroness is hot!

Heh, it was for a private Halloween party and yeah, totally a fake plastic gun. I'm actually terrified of real guns so I don't think anyone has to worry about that :P I wouldn't dare take that or the fake pistol I had anywhere else. I don't have a death wish :) Thanks for the advice though.

Me and some friends are going to engage in a good ol' fashion Zombie Walk. I'm going to be the Boomer from Left 4 Dead, and at least one of my friends is going as the Hunter. We're not certain how many others are going as the Special Infected, though.

I went Commando this year...Bionic Commando that is. I designed an outfit to look like Captain Nathan "Rad" Spencer of the series, primarily after the Rearmed artwork. That's what I was looking at when I put together my powered arm. I think it turned out pretty well, I'll try get pictures online when I have them.

I might reuse it later. So I'll probably redesign it now that I've worn it and can work out the kinks. Sadly it doesn't actually pick up stuff, but thats the next challenge. I settled for trying get the look right for now. so it's a static prop. Making a working claw will be another level to the project. It was a fun lil project, if seeing the expression of peoples faces alone made it worth while.

Okay, I want to see pictures now. You, kids, whoever. :D

I didn't make it as a Ghostbuster this year like I intended. I didn't have a costume, but we had an office costume thing so I improvised. I'll get some pictures when I upload them from the camera.

I meant to be a ghostbuster thi year with my brother, but the alice frames for our packs arrived too late, and the coveralls we got off ebay ended up being the wrong kind. So I borrowed my brother's kimono, carried my wooden katana around and was a samurai, while he reprized his David Tennant Doctor Who costume from Otakon a few years back.

maybe ghostbusters next year, I have alice frames now
