Marvel Universe Figure Discussion Thread

I've been interested in these for quite a while, so I figured why not start em' a thread. I've bought two so far and I love them, those being black costume Spider Man and as of today Electro.

I've never bought many super hero toys since most of them have always been big and lacking articulation, but these are great. For those who haven't seen them, they're like the 25th Anniversary GI Joes in terms of construction.

My only problem with the line so far is that we're seeing a lot of the same characters. Spider Man, Captain America, ect, but I'm really impressed with these outside of that.

Plus, who isn't going to display this with Unicron?

Anyone else care to talk?

That Galactus looks pretty sweet. Not too into Superhero collecting, although I might start, once University is over.

I have the Toybiz Galactus and I bought a MU Silver Surfer for him. Surfer is just perfect for ole Galactus.
Here's a pic:

My only complaint is that the surf board has some molding defect which seems to be true among the MU Surfers I found (I also asked some fellow collectors)

In a similar scale, I also got Woverine Origins Deadpool, he just fits in with the rest of GI Joes, especially the two ninja, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.

Sometimes I wish they are like the 25th Joes in construction. The Joes seem to be made of better plastic, especially their weapons. I also wish they came with display stands. I guess paying royalties for the marvel toy license took a lot out of the budget for the toys.

The newest figures come with stands like the Joes. I'm not crazy about any of those unfortunately, I might get Vision, but I dunno. He's too bright! Does anyone know what wave seven is supposed to be?

Oh and here's a pic of Electro cuz I like em' so much.

The best thing that came from getting burglarized was that they stole my Marvel Legends collection and broke that addiction. It was cathartic. I'm glad I never have to dip into that pool again.

I wish the stands came with the earlier figures.

@Nekoman - any idea if the Secret Wars 2 packs have their own stands? I haven't seen those in the stores in my location, but I'm planning to get the first one with Captain America. I guess the free comic is a draw too.

Pretty sure the first sets don't have stands either, but if you really want some stands, you might want to check out these. They have a small and large peg that fits Marvel, and newer GI Joes on the small one, and old GI Joes on the large one. Plus, you can connect them and display your figures in jumping/flying poses. I recommend these if you really want some stands.

I picked up the Magneto/Black Spidey 2 pack this week and was pissed off by the astoundingly horrendous QC. I got the only pack in the store that didn't have paint splotches everywhere, but when I opened it, to my dismay Spidey's limbs were so loose and his feet weren't even flat--it's impossible to stand him up. Magneto's calves were reversed (right on left and vice versa) and there's no way to switch them. Plus the cape doesn't even fit well on him. This is such an irredeemably BAD set that I have no choice to return it to the store for a rerun. So if you're tempted to get this two pack, inspect it closely and think hard on whether it's worth the trouble.

So anybody out there collecting the Marvel Universe lines of toys? I personally really dig them. (Yes...I'm a Marvel Zombie..) I've been collecting them from their first wave. I really like the new set, though I only have the Extermis Iron Man and Thor. I really want to get my hand on the new Captain America and Bucky.

Anybody finding this batch to be hard to find?

Btw...Today it was announced that the new 2010 Digital Comics club figure is going to be the X-Force costume Archangel. If you sign up at the New York Comic Con, apparently they'll fork over an Archangel figure.

I've picked up a few so far (only six) and I'm really hoping that they will make a Carnage figure eventually. He always was my favorite.

Cool, I voted for Archangel, can't wait. There was a pool between Osbourne, Ms.Marvel and Archangel on which would be the newest exclusive;

I mainly collect IM and Xmen figures.

I only have three so far: Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Bullseye.

I have my eye on Iron Fist but I know if I buy one more, I'm buying them all! I'm happy with these three since they're some of my favorite characters and I still have my Marvel Legends.

I'm mainly in it for the X-Men figures and other MU characters I like. The Wolverine Origins line is being phased out, and they've added an Iron Man 2 and Spider-Man line (BTW, the Venom figure in that is kick-ass--GO BUY IT). I'm hoping there will be some kind of separate X-Men line, because I want a Rogue figure.

Hopefully one of you kind gents can help me out. What's the deal on the free Nick Fury figure? Do I have to buy one of the figures to get him first or can I just go to the Marvel site? I saw one on E-bay go for $100 which is a bit to much in my opinion.

It was an exclusive mail away figure that you needed to subscribe to some service to recieve one. I believe the cut off date was Dec 31, 2009 so unless they produce a different Nick Fury figure in upcoming waves be prparared to dish out some serious cash for one.

I just plan on having a little patience and will wait for one to come out in the Iron Man 2 or Avengers lines in the future.

Just give me a Thanos and Carnage and I'll be a happy camper. I've been tempted to pick up another Venom fig from the Spider Man line to customize into Carnage, but I think it would just be a tad too bulky for a convincing Carnage.

Anybody know the difference between SDCC Galactus and the Marvel Masterworks version? The prices he goes for on ebay now is disgusting.

So far I have all the figs in the main line(I consider the Secret Wars a separate line). I'm trying to decide if getting the Target exclusive 2 packs is worth it as the variation on a few are minimal.

Still waiting on the last wave of Hammer files to hit in my area with Thanos, Hawkeye, Yellowjacket etc..

By and large they're all shelf warming by me. My TRU's are clogged with wave 1 Iron Man toys and they share the space with the Marvel Universe figures. I haven't even seen a crossover figure in a year.

I hope its just a temporary warehouse glitch or something cause the final wave of Hammer files never hit at any of the Wal-Marts, Targets or K-Marts in my area. All total that is about 12-14 stores within 40 min of my house. The wave with Hawkeye, Yellowjacket, Thanos etc never hit.

I go to Target over the weekend and Series 3, wave 1 is on the pegs. I got all of them except World War Hulk. I hit 2 Wal-Mart and 3 Targets and WWH was not to be found but I got Captain Marvel, Spider-Woman, Doc Samson, Spidey 2099, Modular Iron Man.

I'm going to be ticked if that last wave of series 2 doesn't show up in the weeks ahead.
