Do you sing along to theme songs?

When watching a TV show or a movie, do you ever find yourself singing along with the theme songs that open and/or end the show/movie?

Do you do this just sometimes, or all the time? Do find it embarrasing or enjoyable to do so? What's your opinion on singing along to theme songs?

I do, I also do it outside alot and my friends think I'm crazy, but I could care less. If it's a catchy tune, it's gonna stay with me for a long time.

After an unfortunate incident where the theme song to _The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya_ was stuck in my head for over a week, I now no longer allow myself to listen to potentially catchy theme songs, for fear that not only will I sing along and make a fool of myself (as I did when I relapsed while watching _Ouran High School Host Club_ but that the theme song will crowd out actual useful recall information in my brain, such as my students' names. (It happened!)

So...no, I run in terror and cover my ears.

HK, I'm a weirdo, aren't I?

a) don't most people, whether they realize they are doing sing along at times? I know I don't even realize half the time I've done it.

b) HK, was it Hare Hare Yukai or Bōken Desho Desho?

I think that a good theme song is vital for shows. I love singing along to theme songs. I find that many anime have great theme songs. I remember when I first heard the theme song for Macross and I was floored. I was accustomed to GI Joe and Transformers theme songs(as much as I love them, they're not the greatest songs, though catchy! :) )I still love the Macross theme song. Hmm, the last theme songs I've sung along to are GaoGaiGar's opening theme song and Mobile Suit Gundam.

Nope. I actually lip-sync Rammstein songs when I listen to them in my I-pod. I've since left my I-pod in the glove compartment of my car whenever I go out, for fear that people might think I'm a disciple of some Teutonic cult, whispering Germanic doomsday mantras to myself.

Tell me about it. The Macross DYRL theme song "Ai Oboete imasu ka?" still finds its way into my mind every now and then, ALMOST TWENTY FRIGGING YEARS are I first listened to it!

Someone help me...

I can say I don't sing....because most of the shows that I watch don't have theme songs (Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, etc)

Family guy, nope I bob my head to the beat though

I am slightly embarrassed to admit that yes, yes I do sing along to theme songs... and adverts... and also end up buying theme songs and soundtracks if they're good. And sometimes at the cinema I will even wait until the very end of the credits to ascertain as to whether I like the theme song or not... if I do, I sit there singing along... Very irritating you can imagine :)

Yeah, man, the way that the music was a vital part of Macross' story was great. I think that on average, anime seems to be the most competent in arranging visuals in conjunction with music as a complete experience. Macross' opening theme song is what I look at as the perfect theme song because it perfectly captures the melancholic and uplifting aspects of the story. The combination of orchestral with electronic instruments also works well. Everything Macross has on an emotional level is delivered in its theme song.

I never get tired of watching AND singing along to the opening of Macross.

I also find Mobile Suit Gundam's opening theme song very catchy. It's so 70s but it's great. Incidetally, I'm 16 episodes into the series and I must say I'm very impressed by the quality of the story. It's tied with Macross for my favourite anime.

Both Macross and Gundam have provided hours of decent tracks over the last couple decades.

I have multiple CD's and large MP3 folders for both. (including a disco remix CD of the opening and closings for Gundam's MS thru Double Zeta)

The opening theme to Macross had that epic feel to it, and surprisingly ages well after all these years. That low baritone voice of Makoto Fujihara (?) just gives it that feel of a widespanning space opera. At the risk of having SW fans hunting me down with blasters in hand, I dare say that, IMO, the Macross theme is even more epic than the SW theme.

The only Gundam series I've ever watched was Seed, and Seed Destiny. I'm not sure how it compares to the original Gundam, but the selection of songs were very suitable to the mood of the show. I inadvertently find myself humming to the ending song "River" at the end of each episode.

MacPlus's OST was what hooked me into becoming a Yoko Kanno fan. Barring Mari Iijima, Kanno is one of the more "quality" singers who've worked on Macross themes. Her idea of using fictitious Zentraedi lyrics stands her out as one of the more innovative performers.

The more mainstream ones like May'n are cute and cuddly 'n all, but IMO these really don't add much to Macross's music universe.

Yeah, basically sing along to opening songs. Most of time, Ending songs are a tad slow to sing along with.

And Hellkitty..... that's pretty shameful :P

Alaska huh? Seems like a lot of places to hide the body :P

Also does humming the Imperial March count as singing to a theme song?

 Well, to be fair, the Imperial March seriously rules over any and all other Macross themes I've listened to, period.

But just in case, I wonder where I can buy a shield generator? Hmmm, maybe the old Imperial Army surplus store might stock some of those, and while I'm at it, it wouldn't hurt to pick up a droid platoon for bodyguards, and maybe a box of those thermal detonators.... :P

Those are nothing compared to the Dark Side :P

You know what other theme is seriously under appreciated? The Battle of Endor.....that music is pure awesome!

I find myself singing the themes from Scrubs, Big Bang Theory, King of Queens, and True Blood everytime I watch an episode of any of them.

Great fun :D
