While leaving work today I was in an car accident.. Someone went around in the wrong lane and we tagged each other on the right front.. The passenger front side of my CRV is damaged and I really should not drive it anywhere... I have an appointment tomorrow to have the Allstate adjuster look at it.. Hopefully I will be able to get a rental tomorrow too...
I am also going to the doctors tomorrow to get checked out.
He was very sorry and admitted that he was in the wrong to me and to the JPSO and he got the ticket.
I can admire a person like this that owns up to his mistakes like he did.

Now comes the pain in the ass in dealing with the insurance company..

that's not too bad, but it does need to be fixed. My dad had similar damages to his old Mazda when a truck pulled out into a busy street and did not yield to him (my dad had the right of way.) the guy got the ticket and from what I remember hearing, never showed up to court.

Oh no! Thankfully, no one was hurt, right? Cars can be repaired. People, not so much.

You sound remarkably calm: only accident I was ever in (guy slams car into reverse and basically backs up the front end of my car--weird story, because nothing normal EVER happens to me), I was so mad that I just sat in the car because I knew if I got out I was going to yank him from his car and beat him into a greasy spot on the highway. My car was entirely undriveable.

He admitted it was his fault, too, but that's because he thought there were witnesses. WHat happened was a student of mine drove up right afterward and saw it, and recognized my car (Vegeta was kind of recognizable) and stopped.

Turns out in my case the guy gave false information about his insurance. . Idiot. Grrr. Angry noises.

Still, I'm thankful you're safe! I *hate* that noise--the car crunchy accident noise? (shudder)

HK, let me guess: was this idiot on his cell phone?

Remarkably he was not on his cell phone. He was just in a rush to get to his job.

Yeah, I hate the "thunk" noise from an accident. It is a sound I have not heard in a long time.. And I hope it is a long time till I hear it again.

Lately i have learned how to be a lot calmer. My faith has helped me greatly in this.

It's good to know neither of you is hurt.

Sometimes these things happen. I have been on both ends, and I always handled it calmly. I've wrecked 3 times, 2 of which were my fault, one because of my neglect, another because of mechanical failure. In each case, I wrecked a car which I absolutely loved. :?

Be careful when signing up for a rental. A Hertz employee lied to me and said their extra Hertz insurance would be picked up by my insurance's tab. So I signed up for it, and it wasn't. And it took me a month of working my up the corporate ladder to get most of my money back.

I have dealt with rentals recently when my CRV's timing belt acted up in 2007. I never use Hertz, only Enterprise, I have never had an issue with them before.
Allstate's policy holder was in the wrong, they know this and are taking care of me so far.
I have a black Kia Optima right now for my rental and it is a nice little car.

Glad to hear you are ok. Accidents that aren't your fault are very frustrating.

My car was parked on the street in front of my house once, right in front of my girlfriends car. Someone hit her car, in the back, tore the whole drivers side off, then hit my car in the rear end. Then they drove away. I was pleased to look out that morning and see both cars all messed up.

You can bet I'll be using Enterprise next time I need a car rental.

Honestly we have never had any problems with Enterprise. I am glad if this can help you in the future.

Glad you're OK. It really is one of the worst noises in the world, tho.

I was in a 12 car pile up one icy wintery afternoon between Colorado Springs and Castle Rock. There was a whole lot of bent up metal that day! People crashing all around me, and the sound of all the chaos was just something I'll never forget. It wasn't really anyone's fault, just one of those things, but I think we all got a nice hefty ticket anyway. My car was repairable, but there were a lot of total losses. No one hurt seriously, fortunately.

Takes a while to get the repairs done, and you want to make sure you go with a reputable body shop. Plus, check and make sure they bolted and attached everything back down good - I had to take mine back to get some stuff re-attached.

The person I have working on my car is a friend, fellow 501st member and a superb "body man".
I have no doubt in his abilities of repairing my CRV correctly the first time.
