I just got home from seeing this and thought id start a thread about it.
So what did you think fo the movie?
Personally, i think its the worst of the three, but still a fantastic movie in its own right.
Great script, great story, great acting, fantastic special effects which are some of the best i have ever seen! The film had a great score too, not one of Hans Zimmer's best but still a pleasure on the ears.
The film tended to drag on a little at the beginning, but there was enough interesting story-telling during this period to keep one interested. The final set piece action scene is more than worth the wait though, and is epic in scale, looks amazing and seems to last forever!
There was a few twists and turns i didnt expect in the storyline too which kept things nice and fresh, as well as some good comedic moments.
Personally i think they waited too long to release this movie, which takes away some of its appeal. Instead of making us wait a year to see it, they should have done a Matrix Revolutions and released it late last year. This took so long to came out, i found myself forgetting what was so good about DMC (the last movie) that made me want to come back and see this movie.
But still, its here now and its great, and so far the best movie of the summer. ('till Transformers comes out)
I saw the trailer for Transformers before the movie as well, which was great to see on the big screen! It was different to the one we all saw posted on here, but still awesome and gave me and my wife goosebumps. Not a first for me as i get them every time i see the trailer, but my wife has only seen it once and she isnt even interested in Transformers and it gave her goosebumps!
Anyway, enough about TF, this was about Pirates, so what did you guys think of Pirates Of The Caribbean: At Worlds End?

I saw it last night, and I have to agree with you on most points. Overall I did think that it was the weakest of the three. But that could have changed with some better editing. The dragging parts at the beginning were not necessary. If you like completely over the top action, then you will love this movie. The effects are fantastic. A very enjoyable movie. Just make sure that you go to the bathroom first.

I'll give my opinion in 5 months when it's on DVD. I just can't bring myself to see this series in the theater.

I dunno really. I enjoy the movies but I can't bring myself to pay to see them. I always end up borrowing my brothers DVD and watching it then.

Plus its so freaking expensive to go to the cinema these days. Cost me £12 just for two tickets today. You do the conversion and see the horror for yourself!
So i dont blame ya, but some movies just HAVE to be seen at the cinema.

The first two of the trilogies that came out this summer kinda sucked... I don't have high expectations for this one either. But I'm seeing it tonight for free... so I can't complain

Sonray~ DUDE that's about $20 Canadian... I think. I'm doing this off the top of my head. Even IMAX isn't that expensive here!

I've never minded going to the theater for a movie. Heck if I got to a matinee I can get me and my brother in for $13 or $20 if we both get a medium popcorn.

Thats one of the few things i miss about america. Comparitably cheap daytime cinema ticket prices.

Here it's $7.75 at the local theater. But tickets are $5 if you go before noon.
Anyway while I agree it was the weakest of the three it was still very enjoyable and wrapped things up nicely.

It was good But I echo the sentiments that it was the worst of the three. I especially didn't like what happened with Will in the end.
They definitely left it open for another movie though. It just occurred to me.....Should I have waited til the end of the credits? Apparently there was a scene at the end. Guess I'll see it again Monday

Just came back from seeing it.
Keith Richards could have had a bigger part.
The whole Calypso thing seemed thrown in and then petered out at the end.
Other than tat, it was good.

Same here. Wasn't he supposed to be drunk when he filmed his scenes? That's what I heard.
This movie was kick-ass-awesome. I saw it with Tha Tweezrrr, and we really liked it. I think it's the best one.
I just thought it was odd how, just before the final battle (During a little bit of the ol' Parlay) they had a half rock/half orchestra music. I never thought it was right to have modern music in a film taking place a long time ago. That's my only problem, but the song itself kicked MAJOR ass.
EDIT: And the theater I went to had $3 matinees for everyone.

BEAUTIFUL cinematography. It was absolutely stunning.
But otherwise meh. Entertaining I guess. Experience was bad though because these two guys sat beside me (I had no idea where they were from, but they weren't speaking english). One on the far end INSISTED on making his voice heard throughout the movie. When the music got louder, he spoke louder. And he was speaking his native language to his friend right BESIDE him. I couldn't even lean over to tell him to shush up because they had BAD b.o.! Nasty!

Wife and I went and saw it.
It started out disappointingly...no TF trailer, or chevy commercial. WTH!?! There was only one preview and it was obviously forgettable becauseI forgot...and as I listen to TV I remember...It was for Evan Almighty.
S P O I L E R S!!!
The movie overall was good to see. Plenty of piratey action, some silly, slappy moments. I did not like the scenes with crazy Jack and his mulitple hims...very odd!
The Calypso thing did not play out well at all...sure she made the storm, but I expected a bit more godly, monstery fate...
I also did not like what happened to Will and Elizabeth. What a crappy way to have things turn for them...like things were not bad enough throughout. She seems like a tramp in the second and third movies...one wonders if she would stay faithful, or just kill Will when her fancy changes ('heart' and all in her possession).
I actually really liked Barbosa in this movie. He (to me) stole the show back from Jack...
If there are anymore sequels made, and I suppose there could be, they would not be mistaken to be about the love of Will/Elizabeth, they would be all about Jack...their story is told, basically, unless she can find some way to save him from his new imprisonment.
It was a good movie and overall I was not disappointed. I always feel a little sad when the third movie in a series comes out, because that's usually the end of a good run of movies, and some 'known' story that I enjoyed (Matrix, LOTR to name a couple).
This would be sequel #3 so far BTW... Spider Man, Shrek, and Pirates. Haven't seen Spidey yet.

I knew I should have stayed through the credits...after all that is the new trend these days, instead of simply including it as the end of the movie, previous to the credits (as they might have in the past), they now have decided to make a captive audience sit through all the credits to see something that seems to be important to the movie, and might change how some of us feel about it as we leave...
I know it makes sense from the companies point of view, "...make them look at the credits...then reward them for staring at all of our glorious names..."
I missed it in X3, here, and probably in Shrek 3... Does Spiderman 3 have something after the credits I need to stay for?
