Next up is something that isn't so much a cross over as a blatant rip off...

Astro Plan, aka China's KO of Macross:

Does anyone know of any other bad-but-could-be-awesome KO/rip off products?

Ah Astro Plan, I look forward to seeing how much of a rip it is.

Hey can't be worse than Macross 2 can it?

Macross 2 isn't that bad, is it? I have vague memories of it(I watched it when I was about 10 years old) and I didn't think it was that bad. Now Macross 7...apparently that's the black sheep of the Macross franchise, hehe.

Are you kidding?

Macross 7, once you get past the initial overload of Fire Bomber is a decent series, with a good run of episodes that has produced multiple follow-ups and sold a lot of merchandise.

Macross 2, was a throw away series. heck the official Macross continuity has removed it from the timeline. Last I checked japanese redubs of RoboTech Shadow Chronicles (being treated as a Mospeada sequel) gets more respect. Macross 2 had a couple mech designs of note and good character designs, everything else wasn't up to par, and was blown away when Macross Plus came out.

Haha, Kamen Rider Ryuki. He looks weird when combined with the Strike Freedom's wings. Some are genius, some are rip off

Best one was RM Optimus Primal done up as Peter Jackson's King Kong, with scars and everything - it was awesome and I was broke.

Nope, I'm not kidding. I haven't watched Macross 7 but it gets little respect from what I've seen in the online world, though the internets is filled with people who just like to not like.

It seems like Macross 7 gets treated the same way as G Gundam and Turn A Gundam, where most people who speak up about the series dislike it largely due to it being different than what has come before in the franchise.

Now that's not too bad for a rip off, hehe.

I think the saddest part is that they didn't even bother to create a new name. ZGMF-X10A Freedom G.U.N.D.A.M. I mean, most KOs will at least try to give it a new, albeit bizarre new name. They just slapped the Freedom's wings into Kamen Rider, gave it the same name as the Freedom, and called it a day.

The sad fact about Macross 7, is that most people I have spoken to about the series who bad mouth it, haven't watched it, or only saw a few episodes from early in the series before the storyline really kick in.

But yhea, due to misconceptions It does get lumped in with G-Gundam quite a bit.
