Just saw the
trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife.
I know my fanboy reaction is "It's not like the game!" but the movies are all about Milla Jovovich just kicking zombies in the face so I'm sold.
I take the movie is slightly (or barely) takes elements from Resident Evil 4. Less zombies but still has crazy people attacking the heroes.
The last shot has me wanting the Matrix movies re-released in 3D.
I know the movies aren't good but their mindless fun

I love Resident Evil.
I hate Alice.
So obviously, I have a serious dilemma. I mean, for me Resident Evil is supposed to be about normal humans surviving in the face of horrific zombie infested odds. Not a super human half naked perversion running around.
Of course, I'll still see it given I'm always a huge fan of global apocalypses.
As long as they do Wesker some justice, I'll get over it. If they can sort Alice out as a character, I'll accept her into the genre.

As I did with the last movie, I think that I'll just wait and get it off of Netflix. It is pretty sweet the A Perfect Circle is in the trialer, but thats not enough to make me rush out and see it.
I have enjoyed all of the previous films, but ticket prices are just getting too pricey now, especially 3D ones.
I blame Avatar.

4 and 5. Wesker taking off his sunglasses before throwing them at the heroes is how he opened one of his fights with Chris and Sheva. Also, there's the Executioner Majini.
I dig how they're bringing Las Plagas into this. Though outside of the Lickers and what is arguably a small collection of t-Virus Zombies in RE5, they're just not giving any love to the t-Virus anymore.
Also, I really hope Wesker retains his abilities from RE5. I would seriously kill to see a one-on-one fight between him and Alice.

Hello beautiful. I've enjoyed the past RE movies and the games are always a joy to play. Can't wait for the movie and the heroines fighting zombies in the shower. What? There's nothing wrong with that.

Milla Jovovich, she's the reason why I watch these movies.
Can't wait, especially since that cliff hanger from the last movie.
Damn 3D again, how much long do I have to wait till movies focus on being good movies again and bury 3D again?
I never enjoyed playing the games, since they have sh*tty controls.

That's just show Survival Horror is. Really awkward at first, but eventually you get used to it.

I would at least give RE4 a try. The control is pretty spot on in that one.

I was never a fan of those awkward camera moves. There's nothing worse then backing around a corner, blasting away at many an undead, when you get an odd camera angle which ends up you getting killed.
Ever so glad the tech has upped enough to lessen those god awful load times when you open doors.

I never had a problem with the camera angles. Since movement is relative to the character rather than the camera, it can't actually throw you off balance.

Maybe we weren't playing the same game, but the load times in the original Resident Evil, as well as 2 and 3 were just fine, maybe a second or so between rooms. RE4 and 5, on the other hand, were not so great.

Love playing RE games, and enjoy the movies even if they aren't exactly the same. What video game movie actually does the video game justice, and is entirely true to the source material?

The first Mortal Kombat movie. Not the second one, the second one sucked. The first one, the awesome one where the only thing they really changed was Shang Tsung's age, and even then it was just to make it more appropriate for fightin'.

Lookin forward to this...1st and 3rd films were ace..didnt like the 2nd one. Hope its got proper zombies still in there with these mutants. This 3D's gonna burn itself out soon, but i bet the cinemas keep the prices right up there.

Funny thing is that the second one is actually closest to the source material. Aside from the inclusion of Alice and a few other differences, it's pretty close to RE3.
By the way, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "these mutant." Do you mean the Super Zombies from the last movie, or the Ganados/Majini in the trailer?

Yeah, but what about Raiden played by the Christopher Lambert?

Why not? Christopher Lambert is awesome. He was Conner MacLeod.

While Conner is an awesome Highlander (never watched myself), I guess I had a hard time picturing a white-American as a Japanese God of Thunder, even if it is a fictional character (and not necessarily oriental), but I can't think of anyone better at this point, so touché.

Fun fact, there were no Zombies in RE4 or 5. Although Lickers and what I'm pretty sure t-Virus Zombies made appearances in 5.
But Ganados, Majini, and anything else infected with Las Plagas are explicitly
not Zombies. Leon points that out right after you kill the first Ganados. It's only a Zombie if it's infected with the t-Virus.

The 3D on tgis sucks, I've seen the trailer in 3D yesterday and the only times it looked any good was in the beginning where the plane flies over the landscapes the rest was horrible.

I agree. I was somewhat fine with her until they made her a blantant Mary Sue by giving her lethal psionic abilities and growing IQ after her 'resurrection.'
After I saw that, I was like, "I'll pass on the next movie."
And what wasn't surprising was they dressed her up in revealing and ripped clothes along with a attitude to make her 'hawt.' Yawn. If I wasn't mistaken, the T-Virus is supposed to make you into a horrid grotesque creature and not into a supermodel. She should be growing tentacles by now, even if the T-Virus became a plasmid and infiltrated her DNA.
