Looks to me like Wills and Arnie are just making cameos. The rest of the cast looks excellant.

This film will definetly restore the balance of the film industry, The only thing this film is missing though is

Steven Segal
Jean Claude Van Damme
Chuck Norris
Mark Dacascos

I've got alot of high hopes in this film, I will definetly gear myself for it.

Hoshit! Just THINKING about this movie makes me grow hair in places I shouldn't have any. This looks set to become a giant tour de force of PURE MANLINESS.

I heard they wanted to have Van Damme star in it too, but he thought his character lacked substance.

What a girlyman.... :P

Van Damme and Segal both turned decided not to. Even without them, this is like a Who's Who of action stars.

Also, apparently the test screenings were received so well that they're now working on a sequel. Stallone even said he shelved Rambo V just for Expendables 2.

Wow, that many a-list actions stars in a single movie has got be against a arms treaty somewhere. Maybe the U.N. will censor the USA for it's show of excessive force, but I'll still see it.

Yeah, Willis and Ahnuld are only cameos, but it's alright. And yes, I do miss JCVD and Chuck Norris. Seagal? He turned it down due to his work on his reality show and Machete (which looks cool as well.) I don't understand Van Damme, it's not like he's got anything better to do. However, I would have added 3 more guys: Ving Rhames, Carl Weathers and Mike Tyson.

Ain't that the truth. Do we really need a Universal Soldier IV?!

I won't fault him Kung Fu Panda 2, though.

Even if this movie has a ratsh1t plot, its still going to be awesome.

I almost fell out of my seat when I saw it previewed when I went to see Predators the other day.

Wait...it was going to have a PLOT?! I thought it was all about the guns, bombs, muscles, testosterone and nostalgia. It will probably rival The A-Team in awesomeness.

I heard someone say "plot", of course, I might have mistakenly heard "jock" or "Arnie outrunning an alien nuclear device detonated in a jungle".

Which is as good a plot as a plot can possibly get.

Just got back from seeing it with my GF.

BADASS.

If you loved most of the action films from the 80s and 90s, this will be awesome and same-old same-old at the same time. But it was just so much fun seeing these action stars in one movie. Some had bigger roles than others, but it was great nonetheless, especially if you grew up watching their movies.

The one thing that did surprise me was an actual plausible and believable plot/reason for all the ass kicking.

Bottom line, GO SEE IT. So far, it was the most fun movie of the year, maybe The A-Team ties with it, but still, it was great. Definitely recommended!

Yeah, it was fun. I loved when you see Statham manning the guns on the nose of the plane. That was cool, and A-train's big gun was classic. Also, I got to say, the way the hand to hand combat scenes were done was leaps and bounds ahead of the what we saw back the 80's.

I mean what constituted as a creative attack back then was a jump kick, now everybody bounces off the wall like spider-man to pound people to the floor.

Meh. I don't know. I saw it, but I didn't like it much. I thought the beginning was awesome, but it fell off for me after that.

Schwarzenegger's role was totally superfluous. I know he only had a cameo, but the reason he was there (to add a name to the credits) was so thinly veiled it went even beyond pointless. He walked in, said he didn't want the job, and walked out. They didn't even try to find a reason for his character. They could have cut him out and lost nothing.

Plus I was just bored most of the time. The action was cool, but nothing I hadn't seen before. Most of the movie was Stallone and Statham with a bit of Lundgren here and some Li there, but most of the others didn't really get much screen time.

And, at some points, especially during Stallone and Lundgren's exchanges, it just sounded like a couple of gorillas grunting at each other.

Maybe a sequel would be interesting, but I'd probably rent it. They should try to fit in Wesley Snipes.

I thought that was the point. It was made pretty clear if you went for a plot, you'd be disappointed.

As for Snipes, if they replaced Terry Crews with him, it would have been fine. I like Crews and all, but he's not a 90s star anyway. And neither is Statham, really. But at least he can kick ass.

You're giving me the impression that you read the word "plot" in my post. I'll restate my reasons:

* Schwarzenegger's role was totally superfluous (and even got in the way of the scene, I found). This is probably the closest to plot I came.
* The action may have been stolen move for move from other movies. Nothing was new for me.
* It was a Stallone and Statham movie with Li and Lundgren supporting and everyone else mixed in with no real screen time, just a frenzy of camera shots. If you added Crews', Couture's, or Austin's screen times where they really got some focus, they individually probably amounted to the same as Schwarzenegger's.
* Gorillas talking.

And something else I forgot:
* During the car chase, I found it hard to tell whose car or SUV was whose. I thought Stallone and Li had crashed at one point, but it was really the bad guys. Turns out everyone just shopped at the same dealership. Or I might just be easily confused. I've never been good at distinguishing vehicles.

I wasn't really looking much for a plot.

I'd probably have replaced Couture. Crews is more of an action icon (though not by much) than Couture, and if they were going for icons, Couture would be the logical one to cut from the team. Not that I minded him in any way. And, in Statham's defense, he might not be a 90's action icon, but movies like the Transporter have made him an action icon nonetheless.

I disagree. But to each his own.

* The action may have been stolen move for move from other movies. Nothing was new for me.

I do agree to a point. I didn't keep track of every punch or kick, but I am sure there were things in there we didn't see from the 80s. Like Stallone getting his ass beat. Aside from the Rocky movies.

This I agree with 100% Schwarzenegger's was as much as supporting character as the others, in setting up Stallone's role as leader and shedding light on their common pasts. (If you didn't catch it, Schwarzenegger was Stallone's boss in the past.)

* Gorillas talking.

It was easy for me. Stallone drove the pimped out Studabaker (old truck) and Lundgren was riding the O.J. mobile (Bronco) which ended up crashing.

I wasn't really looking much for a plot.

Nobody was. Otherwise the movie wouldn't have been enjoyable.

And I agree on Statham, he's a damn good action hero. he just wasn't around in the 90s, not as much. He did deserve to be in this movie, and even be the other major character.
