http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.com/2010/05/nbc-cancels-heroes.htmlIt's official according to this place, no more Heroes. I've always liked the show, but am willing to admit the first season was the best. Thoughts? I'm kinda disappointed, there should at least be a final episode to wrap it up or something...

Season 1 was an incredible show. I was hooked. Once it came out on DVD, my roommate and I had a marathon weekend watching all of the episodes right before season 2 came out. It was a blast! Then, once the Writers strike happened ... I pretty much lost interest in the show. I tried on-and-off watching the rest of season 2, and even continued to watch the first 6 episodes or so of season 3 but that seemed like a chore so I finally just gave up. It seemed like everyone else did as well.
Three huge flaws with me regarding the series ...
1) Superheroes with powers that were too big for them or made them basically invincible or so far superior to others that it wasn't even a fight. It's one of the reasons why I've never been a huge fan of Superman (though I loved the Smallville TV series, at least the first 6 or 7 seasons). At least Superman had Kryptonite as his weakness.
2) The whole time warp ability. This should never have been introduced so early on. Huge mistake! Once you can go back in time or forward in time and change events, it made the whole show seem kind of pointless to me because anything could be undone at any time. I'm not a fan of time warp stories unless it's presented in a manner like Quantum Leap which was just plain fun.
3) A central plot or theme that truly unites all of them together? I thought Sylar was that character (the main villain) but he switched sides and characters personalities dramatically changed and some aligned themselves with him.
In the end, it just turned out to be way too frustrating for me to watch. Based on the show's ratings, I wasn't alone in my feelings about the show. It's a bummer though because the first season showed such incredible promise for a great series. I was hooked from the beginning but the show killed itself for me.

Damn, I really liked the show, but the last seasons writing was very weak - I couldn't give a slag about the Claire storyline, and Sylar going to bad and good again was ooooverused (his meeting with his father was good actually) and it basically ended as the season two seasons earlier

My favourite character in the whole show was Hiro, but his powers were seriously nerfed after the first seasons; I really like time traveling stories, and the end of his love story with Charlene was one of the redeeming qualities of the last season. But it seems even the writers couldn't handle his powers...

I'm actually glad it's been cancelled. Each season got progressively worse. The last season in particular was almost painful to watch.
Flash Forward was also cancelled, which is no suprise, that's a show that should have been done as a movie.
And Scrubs has finally been cancelled. The whole "Medical School" thing while funny, paled in comparrison to the original stuff.

Ugh, the first two seasons were incredible for me. My favourite character was Elle.
After all of that, Heroes become some serious unfanwank, I couldn't even bare watching it.

Sad to see it end. The first 2 seasons were good. I was kind of hoping they'd eventually get around to explaining why the hell all these people have powers, but they never do.
They just keep going on in these tangents, but they never explain why it was the Parents of all of them got together in the first place, just that they did, or why they have powers and their kids have powers.
I haven't really watched the 4th season so I can't say if they are wrapping up this or not.
But it seams they just can't figure out why they have powers.
Sylar was good as a bad guy, but his ever shifting allegiances, and memory losses have started to be a little over used.
All in all, I think they drove the series into the ground, by avoiding to tell a coherent back story for them. It just started to get monotonous and annoying that you never now why they're like they are.

Agreed. After the first season it just progressively went down hill. This last season was just painful to watch.

My biggest problem with the last season was I kept expecting Samuel to raise a brotherhood of evil mutants and wage a war, but he really didn't seem to do anything at all. It was a total let down, and Sylar didn't do anything.
And season three was like that to. All the villians seemed to do nothing at all, and they killed Takezo Kensei in the very beginning.
I did think the mutant-hunting part was cool though.

I agree. The show was tiring itself out. The third season with the power manhunt started out strong, but fizzled out later. And nobody ever died... at least from the starting cast! They had a couple of deaths in the first season, then nothing. Not even Ali Larter's character since she had another sister that was essentially her with a different power.
The only characters I liked were Hiro, Ando, and the Haitian, and to a degree the cop. I didn't mind the guy who could phase through stuff and Micah, though they weren't around too long. Everyone else just bugged the crap out of me, especially anyone with the last name Petrelli.
I didn't buy that almost everyone had a power. These guys were supposed to be the exception, not the rule, but it turns out just about everybody had a power. It just got too unbelievable.
I didn't even watch the last season.

I loved the first season. The second season I thought was a bit rubbish, but I accepted that because it was happenign around the time of the writer's strike, (I think). I liked the 3rd season more then the second, and I've just started watching the fourth online - which I dont' think is that great.
I agree that the time travel thing made it kind of pointless, I would have perfered it if perhaps they could go back in time and only watch teh events as opposed to interacting with them.
But given the powers they have, and the way the stories go, it just seems to be the same thing. There's nothing that "wows" me about the 2 - 4 seasons.
Now Supernatural, there's a cool show!

I hate to see it go but it is time. 1st season was awesome. I thought the second season blew. The third season was good. This past season was not at bad as the 2nd but was not good. Can't believe they're not going to wrap it up somehow.
