Don;t know. The Last time they tried to revive Voltron in CGI, Voltron Third Dimension failed miserably. Though I wouldn't mind a cartoon less Voltron Toyline. I'd like to see some large lions with pilot figures sold independently and have them combine.
Other than that, I always liked Vehicle Voltron better. A new toy based on that would be awesome.

I will watch the first episode and see how it goes. I am pretty excited to see that though.

I am aware of this. Though, I read in another article that it is being called "Voltron Panthera Force".

Even though The Third Dimension was a failure, I still enjoyed it
so much more than the Defender of the Universe series.

Thank goodness.. I read the script and man... It would NOT have done the original series justice AT ALL..

Great news there's new toys and a toon even better that the car crash of a potential live action movie script and movie were scrapped.

As soon as I read Pharell of N.E.R.D was interested in producing( you can guess how the soundtrack would sound like rap and hip hop in the Voltron universe? EW Robot Chicken skit exempted) I was wishing this would die in the butt. Got my wish huh?

I always kinda wanted Voltron when I was a kid, but I never got it. I'd like to see if a new toy is released-I might be game for that.

It's nifty, but I'd rather see a revival of Or-bots.

I'm going to choose: cautiously optimistic.
I really liked Voltron when I was little and have the DVDs. IF it's done properly this could be really fun for little kids.
I didn't track the movie very much, but what little I read depressed me. I'm glad it was scrapped. I would still like to see a live action movie if it was done right though.

No new Voltron figure could ever top Toynami's Masterpiece Voltron figure.

Put me in the cautiously optimistic camp.
It might be handled better than previous tries, and it might lead to a new toy line. Or a mass release of Toynami's handiwork. I'm assuming though, that they'd have to step up their game in terms of safety measures and whatnot, to make it to shelves.
And I agree...Lions that can hold their pilot figures, and combine, and look good? SOLD. It would be an expensive set, but it would be amazing.
Imagine: Light up features, sound effects, spring launched heads, all the missiles and add on attachments, etc.
$25-30.00 for Keith and the Black Lion
$20-25.00 for Hunk and the Yellow Lion/Princess Allura and the Blue Lion
$15-20.00 for Pidge and the Green Lion/Lance and the Red Lion
For $100.00 smackeroos (I realize it's more than that, with the prices I listed), that wouldn't be a bad deal. The Power Rangers RPM Ultrazord is comprised of four Megazords, and each Megazord has three Zord components, so you ended up getting 12 toys for $100.00 out of that.
I'd say a Voltron with full functionality, figures, lights and sounds for that price is not only doable, but might even sell. Especially if the show is good. I think they could also do a pricing structure that would allow kids to have a vinyl Voltron, or a Deluxe Voltron, or a Master Voltron with all the trimmings.
But, this is all a pipe dream, really. We'll probably have another retread of the Trendmasters mold, which I believe is a recasting of the Matchbox original.

Me too. The only Voltron series I ever saw were the original Lion series and the Third Dimension series. It all depends on which direction they're taking with this one. I imagine they'll go with the Lion version since that seems to be the most iconic (in my mind). So we'll see how it goes, but while I'm somewhat interested, I'm still skeptical.

Same here. I'd love to get my hands on a quality re-release of the Voltron figure without breaking the bank.

No. Just, no. New York City instead of Planet Arus/Altea just does not cut it. I mean, what are gonna do, say that Voltron was created by Earth scientists and the most advanced technology ever, instead of giving him the more semi-mystical origin he had in the series? And those lions, can no live action mecha use the more iconic "boxy" forms anymore? This is just disappointing. Voltron himself looks like Movie Megatron wearing a cat-themed costume, and that monster (that ain't no RoBeast/Beast Fighter) looks like a cross between the Cloverfield monster and one of the alien beasts from
Star Wars Episode II. Even the Voltron from
The Third Dimension would look better in live action than this... thing.

The original movie script had it more Earth bound and the Lions to be more "junky".. If that makes any sense. It was supposed to be after a big war and the Lions were made of junk metal or something like that.

You're about 10 years late, then.
Also, cause it seems relevant somehow:
Don't call it a comeback
I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a MON-soon

Too me it looks like it will do no justice to the look of Voltron like Bay did to the transfgormers with their horrible looks

Vehicle Voltron was cool.
Lion Voltron bores me shitless.
Zoids do it better.

Until more solid development news is announced, I'm in the position of liking the idea and hoping for a decent execution.
On the other hand, I'd like to see a GoLion or Dairugger retelling in a similar vein that Mazinger Z received with Shin Mazinger Shogeki! Z Hen. SMSZH did a great job of taking some of the story hooks that exist in Mazinger Z and fleshing them out to make a very interesting modern version.
