I think Negare mentioned that dude to me once if it's the same guy. He got into an argument with some Rachet/Prowl. Dude made fun of the fact that Rachet and Prowl died for laughs, and when she came back with "Well Wheeljack died in the movie too" he goes something to the effect of "Wheeljack wasn't dead. He was hung over. Everyone knows that Wheeljack's a drunk."

The sleeping Wheeljack fan was called Tallmook. He loved his beer, and to torture the hell out of his midget minions (He called them mini-cons), and than he passed out on another member. Said member was Dr. Spengler, and he grew to like under there. 8-}

Ironic that I'm watching a Western right now.

Back on topic though, there's quite a few I miss from the old days that just kind of disappeared. Two that come to mind are Bluestreak and Blackbird. Last I heard from Blackbird, he was battling some Work Comp deal.

Blackbird left, I think I remember him saying that he's no longer able to post since the accident for which he went to court left him disabled which was getting worse and worse and would soon make him unable to post. I remember that since I had signed up at the time and that thread touched me.

I like threads like these, I'm not really old-school but I like reading these hints of stuff that happened before my time and stuff that happened while I was here but never rely noticed, like the TTT.

So a big welcome back to all old-school members :D

There is a sort of warm feeling I get when I read this and see how scattered this thread is. ;)

Which is a good indication of the 'good old days'. Anyone else miss the Party forums? SPAM heaven but all in good fun. And the buildings were impossibly busy at times. I remember a time when I could come back after one day and have 10 pages of posts to catch up on in a single building thread. Good times.

Way I hear it we had it for awhile but it was closed because the users kept flaming others for their arguments and beliefs. Which is a sure sign that you're not mature enough to be in a debate anyway. Man, what I wouldn't give for an adult sub-forum with a philosopher's forum/critical thinking area. I love a good debate.

Correction...

The Philosopher's Forum died its first death due to the inability of numerous posters to bring even a small amount of civility to the table.

It died its second death due to boredom.

We brought it back, to a reasonable amount of fanfare...and no one cared. At that point we looked at the number of sub-forums and consolodated them in order to get more people talking in the same places. So, in a sense, GD is your new PF.

Go forth and bicker, and flame no more.

Yeah, there was some good stuff in the Philosophers' Forum from time to time.

Ironhidensh mentioned the movie drawing new and younger people, and I agree with that. It seems like after movie 1, we became unable to actually discuss things because we were always hurting someones' feelings over some toy or something. I remember the Concept BB fiasco, and the whole scalper arguement and stuff, and how people had their delicate feelings hurt because some people considered Botcon figures and actual exclusive things to be superior than having six figures you bought at Target. I haven't been on here as long as some of you guys, but I did come in at the tail end of those halcyon days of actually having discussions instead of having some guy write you a book about you sucking because you don't think the new movies are the greatest things ever. That was back when we could dislike something without being told that we're lucky to get new toys or cartoons or whatever at all, when discussion reigned instead of being subservient to pandering to not hurting feelings.
Whew, sorry if that was windy and pseudo-poetic. I'm having one of those days.

You know, I'm kind of glad I skipped being around for those movie days then. Say, did anybody's parents get mad and come on the site? That sounds like something that could happen back then, and yes, those first wave movie toys did kind of suck, but they got reworked a lot.

Also, Counterpunch, what is with this Cake or Death thing?

Man, I must be coming down with something. I had this killer sinus headache for whole day at work. it was a bad one too, i felt it right behind my eye the whole time. Got home, ate something, took some aspirin, and took a 2 hour nap, and I still feel out of it.

I do recall a certain female poster who had a rather unsavoury obcession with Ratchet/Prowl who then flamed the hell out of all in sundry who disagreed with her or so much so told her to calm down.

Then there was some shenanigans involving a particular Mod who was feeding her info from the Mod forum.

To be honest, I often wonder if that woman ended up in a psych unit, but generally, I just enjoy a private chortle when I recall the situation.

Yeah, he was very lenient back then, that's why so many people got away with so much ****. But that also included a lot of harmless stuff like spam and ribbing, which was OK. But the STFU crowd should have gotten kicked out a LOT sooner than they did.
