Lead actress in a Metroid movie?

Who would fit the bill for Samus Aran if there were a live action movie made for the Metroid games? A blond Angelina Jolie? Jessica Biel, if she worked out a bit more? Maybe Kristanna Loken, who played the T-X in T3? Someone new?

I'd have to say Scarlett Johansson, but I've never actually thought about it before.

Since Metroid takes obvious cues from the Alien movies, Sigourney Weaver would be an interesting choice, or even whoever played Newt.

In all seriousness (and not jumping on anyone here), I'd like an actress to be picked because she can play the part, not just because she can look pretty, especially since that's what Samus is all about.

Being able to play the part isn't difficult, Samus hasn't had a whole lot of characterization. She's only ever spoken in Fusion, a few short lines of exposition in Zero Mission, and (apparently) Other M. Outside of that, she has the personality of Gordon Freeman or the marine from Doom.

Whoever it is would have to be skinny enough to fit into that Varia Suit. ;)

Nicole Ritchie? Lindsay Lohan? Since there won't be much need to speak...some stunt woman...?

But, if there was a Metroid movie, most likely it would get written so there's a development for Aran's character through dialogue at least, and even a relationship of some sort with others. So her face would be seen a lot and her voice heard, and she would most likely wear that helmet in battle situations only.

Ali Larter from heroes would be perfect. She can pull the "tough chick" thing off very well.

Except for the part about her helmet, that sounds like Other M.

I was going to suggest that as well. She was also Claire Redfield in the Resident Evil movies.

That is a good list, NV.

I would very much prefer a completely unknown for the role. Get some naturally blonde girl who is very athletic and has a wirey look.

Let the role of Samus define itself and if the actress gets popular by that, all the better.

Put a well known actress in and her personality is going to define Samus. They're going to put their idotic take on what it means to be a "Tough Girl" on Samus and while I'm not a Nintendo-kid, I think Samus is a character worth defending against Hollywood.

(Definition: Nintendo-kid - Child that grew up on Pokemon and not Super Mario Bros. This child may have owned a NES or SNES but it was handed down from an older and undboutably cooler sibling. This child is also prone to talking about how great the SNES was despite only having beaten its best games on Emulator with no less than 350 save states along the way. Also, this child finds worth in defending "Nintendo" while failing to recognize that every bit of greatness from the company came from a time where "Nintendo" did not need to be defended by anyone, ever. F' the Genensis.)

Word is bond.

Those are words of great wisdom, CP.

Same!

And you make me miss my NES with your nintendo-kid bit. And make me that bit happier knowing I really don't like the Pokemans series.

It seems Nintendo wants to get in on this topic as well. I don't know who she is, but she sure looks good in the Zero Suit...

Milla Jovovich FTW. She was awesome in The Fifth Element. Angelina Jolie came to mind, too.

Ali Larter's a good choice as well. ;)

Wow, that's a good choice. Unless she's burned out on the Resident Evil movies already. Or, building on her fame she will no doubt be getting next summer, how about Rosie Huntington-Whiteley? She might not be an experienced actress, but she has the face and the body, and if the movie is done right, Samus wouldn't have many lines, just a lot of ass kicking. And speaking of, would Bay be a good director for this, if it was action heavy?
