By which I assume you mean Godzilla 2012. In any case, I rarely get excited until I see a Trailer. That way I have something to base an opinion on. But yes, I am definitely looking foward to it :D .

Anyways, I really, really hope the movie won't "just" feature Godzilla, cause counting '98, it's been done three times already. I mean unless they do something drastically different, one monster headlining a movie won't carry it. For example, Cloverfield is a cool movie and I enjoyed it, but if they hadn't done it in a first-person perspective, the movie probably would have only been O.K. Military vs. Giant Monster has been done way to many times, and isn't as exciting anymore.

Oh, and I really, really, really, really hope it's a man in a rubber suit. CG's ok, but it lacks that organic feeling of suits and minatures.

Changing gears for a minute, how's Gamera the Brave? I was out last week and saw it for $20, and I know I can get it cheaper online, so is it a good movie with good special features? I've been meaning to get it for some time anyway, but sometimes one just needs that spark, ya know?

And here I thought Final wars was the big G's retirement... the big G being Godzilla, not Gamera, Gigan, Ghidra... wow, there's a lot of G's, and they're all pretty damn big.

I thought that movie was supposed to come out in 2014 to commemorate Godzilla's 60'th anniversary? Anyway I am looking forward to that and since it'll be in 3D it will be available in a theatre near me so I can finally see a Godzilla movie on the big screen.
It would be cool if it featured a CGI Godzilla by ILM, since those guys would make it look perfect, but it's just wishful thinking.

2000 Millennium actually ranks toward the bottom of my Godzilla favorites. Now before flames and arrows start flying, know that I love every single Godzilla movie for one reason or another, but 2000 kind of leaves me disappointed. Also note that I did watch it just a little while ago before posting, mostly cause I had a hankering to see a Godzilla movie, and it would do. I'll explain a few reasons, and try not to be extremely long winded:

1. I'll start with Orga. The design is pretty cool, but I never found him to have much personality. His roar is just sorta there, the fight sequence is rarely jaw dropping, kinda boring really, and he just kinda lumbers around. Eating Godzilla and having a plasma cannon on his shoulder is neat, but I think the main reason is Orga is just never built up, ever. Which I guess could be...

2. What's the threat? Ok they find a single alien saucer under the ocean, and it steals a whole boat load of information about the Earth. Then it's going to make the atmosphere more suitable for it’s purposes. Um…how? We never see a big machine that’s going to do that, and the only weapons they seem to possess is that big plasma cannon, and Orga. I suppose one could surmise that they if they can create Orga though use of Regenerator G-1, they could create an army. However, by the time Orga is created, Godzilla has long been on the scene, so the threat of impending doom is diminished. Then after the alien ship/Orga is destroyed, Godzilla TORCHES THE CITY, THE END. And he’s called a hero, protector even. Of course…

3. What reason does Godzilla have for coming to shore in the first place? They state that Godzilla comes to the city to destroy energy sources, maybe to feed, a la’ Godzilla 1985/vs. Megaguirus. I’ll give the movie that, but why did Godzilla choose to attack the alien saucer when he did? Revenge for blasting him? It’s logical, but a little too coincidental, and pretty weak. I’ll cite that yes, in the 70’s Godzilla did come “save they day” out of the goodness of his heart, but that was the style at the time, and he was either warned ahead of time(by Anguruis or Jet Jaguar), or had a previous grudge(didn’t I kill you MechaGodzilla?). Also…

4. The human drama is, for the most part, not essential to the plot, and barely moves things along. Actually, after they surface the ship, they do NOTHING to advance the overall plot, and only serve as exposition. Godzilla does not win or lose because of them(maybe his injuries DID prevent him from destroying the alien vessel on first blast, but that’s a stretch), and the alien was barely inconvenienced by their actions. Yes, the humans may have woken the alien up by blowing up the building underneath it, but even that was a weak effort by the military. Furthermore…

5. Godzilla does not stomp on one tank, and the military’s response is uneven. At the beginning of the film Godzilla attacks, yet nothing is done to stop him. But they knew he was coming! The Godzilla Protection Agency knew, and a short time later in the film Katagiri’s organization(name escapes me) detects Godzilla coming to shore, and they set up their defense line, for the missile attack. Why couldn’t they have done this during the first attack in the film? Plus, they couldn’t warn the small village and evacuate it?

Well I think that wraps things up. Overall, that was a fun little review! Would anyone else like to see me do a mini-review of another Godzilla movie? Suggest one and I’ll see what I can do.

Alright, lets start with your misconception about Orga. The Ship didn't create Orga, Orga IS the ship! He is a Millenian/Godzilla hybrid created when the ship scanned his G-Cells, andcombined it with it's own DNA. Creating Orga.

1. He wants to destroy convert the world into a base for the Milleneans to launch their attack on the universe.

2. See point above.

3. To kill Orga. Yet another alien invader who was threatining the planet, his home. He may not care much for humans, but Godzilla is a guardian of the Earth.

4. But it WAS pretty funny when that one guy got blasted!

5. They need him to kill Orga. THEN they'll kill em! Unfortunatley, they didn't get the chance.

Anyhow, anyone else know of Gidzilla Neo?
I think it's pretty awesome, far as I know, hasn't been updated in forever though...

There it is(at the bottom you can see all the characters and stuff).
It's basically a reimagining of everything in updated art and in one story.
Only things I don't like are that the Orochi Spawn he picks to win are always the lamest.
And his Rodan, just looks lame to me...

Everything else is quite awesome though.

Ah, did not really know Orga was the ship. Or maybe I did, but it didn't register when I was watching the movie. Either way, Orga himself is never named in the actual movie, and his motives are only expositionalized by the humans. I personally feel while 2000 is a decent film, many of the elements have been done better in other Godzilla films.

Final Wars rocks, because it's one of the few Godzilla movies that can actually be qualified as an action flick. The fights are fast paced, and there are some cool kung-fu humans. It's another film that has a divided audiance, and yes it has plot holes, but it's unlike any Godzilla film before it, and therin lies the reason I like it.

Plus it has lots of monsters.

could King Kong and the Dweler in the depths be considered kaiju? How about creatures from Cthulu?
