"The Japan Times Online" have posted an article which will be of high interest for US based fans. The basic message of it is this:

Japan has put a limit on shipping weight for everything being sent from Japan to the US, this limit is 453 grams, or 1 pound. Anything heavier will not be able to leave Japan by airmail, this is an anti-terror measure and is done by request of the US. aviation controls.

Please do read the full article as it explains how to get around this.

A bit sensationalist of us here. This doesn't apply to stores with permits with the Japanese post service. Your typical buying practices will not change.

Also the Japanese government is pretty reactionary. This will pass when the controversy dies.

hmmmm... "...done by request of the U.S. Aviation Controls..." Yeah, that totally falls in line with the complete and absolute moronic, behind the times thinking of one of our many ass-backwards gvt. run organizations. I've got news for these guys, an airliner can be taken down with a lot less than a pound of the right explosive and getting ones hands on that explosive is a lot easier than the general population realizes. I know I'm making a minor rant of nothing that really has any effect on us collectors but I still can't help but point out that this is just another case of the govt. (or in this case, a couple of govts.) closing the barn door after the horse is already out. :BANG_HEAD:

Thanks DM for posting this. While most of us won't be inconvienced by this there may be some who are going through private sellers or smaller online companies that are going to be held up by this. I'm glad there is someone that is watching out for info like this.

I removed the article from the news section for the time being. I agree that the original article was confusing. I would prefer to find some additional sources about this. If this is true, it could affect a lot bigger things than our collecting habits. Can we find some American sources regarding this issue?

Also, AmiAmi was sending out emails stating that it would not affect their store.

I mean sources like CNN, Fox News, ABC, MSNBC. If this is true, this would be making the national headlines.

Did a little more searching on Google News. Can't find anything on CNN about this. But I did find other sites reporting similar news to us. Any chance we can rewrite our article so that it doesn't sound so doom and gloom, especially with the additional information that Counterpunch provided?
