Comics?

I apologize if there are already threads like this someplace else (and mods, do what you will if that's the case), but...

I was just wondering how many people here regularly (or semi-regularly) read comics and graphic novels outside of Transformers, and what titles you tend to prefer. Personally, I really dig both Usagi Yojimbo and Fell, and still love Bone and Transmetropolitan...and, as many of you have probably already guessed, I don't follow DC or Marvel all that much.

That being said, anyone else have some love for the comic medium?

I live, love and eh.......lick (?) comics.

i read comics alot, although not so much DC and Marvel, I love the horror titles from IDW, Cal Mac donald, 30 Days of Night, Wormwood-I was just rereading The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman on the train today-a truely amazing book.

Eh.....there are lots of other really really good indy books, the mouse gaurd,200AD or DEAD@17 if any of those are more ur style.

Anywho, love comics-although not such a big fan of spandex wearers

I am. 8)

I'm right now reading Nova, Loners, and the new New Warriors comic. I don't have much money for them, but if I did, I might start re-collecting Spider-Man.

I miss the days when comics were a buck and a bit and printed on newsprint.

I used to read a lot of comics but due to money problems I've
been out of comics for about a year and I'm been trying to get back into it but finding the books seems to be a problem.

I want to get back into:

Transformers
The Fallen Angel
Rex Mundi
Noble Causes

aside from all the Transformers I collect, I've read Ghost Rider since I was a kid thanks to my dad so I still keep up with that. I've just started picking up the Word War Hulks.

The Armory Wars comes out in July and I've already got it on order. It's the comic adaptation to Coheed & Cambria's music. Claudio wrote his albums so that one or two songs will match up with a comic book to tell the full story later on. SO Awesome.

And this Silver Surfer: Requiem thing that just came out is really rad. I'm very much a MarvelBoy.

Other than all of that, I'm constantly adding random awesome titles to my collection...Valiant's Nintendo Comics, Chuck Norris & the Karate Kommandos comics, Fraggle Rock comics...I love movie adaptations and special edition issues (like Christmas and Halloween specials!) and just random obscure titles and covers.

I read my brother's and sister's X-men comics, and get the limited series that come out, if they look good. Other than that, when I step foot in a comic book store, I lose all self-control and become an impulse buyer, picking up whatever catches my fancy and usually spending twice as much as I originally intended to. It's a habit I'm trying to stop... AFTER I pick up Civil War: Spider-man and that Firefly comic I saw a couple weeks ago. XD

Hellboy/B.P.R.D. - Never truly realized just how great the comics were.

Been reading the Star Wars KOTOR comics, Star Wars Legacy, and Star Wars Republic comics.

Green Latern Corps, and the regular GL series.

only stuff from Marvel has been the Ultimates comics, since the regular crap is way too flooded with retconning and other crap.

For a second I read that as Star Wars KOTR, and had a mental image of leotard clad Star Wars characters wrestleing.

:BOT: I use to contain a good chunk of comic discussion here but I don't update it as much as I like.

But in anycase, I dig all kinds of comics. Particularly I love what Joss Whedon is doing for Astonishing X-Men & Runaways.

And I was so surprised by 52... it's going to be hard to top that! :CON:

I'm a big Marvel fan, but comics really are pretty expensive now, and for some reason the only comic I ever collected new(and still do) is Captain America. I have all the main issues from Heroes Reborn to the current run. I also get Transformers of course.

But that doesn't mean I don't love reading and collecting other comics, mainly older back issues. I pick them up cheap anywhere I can. I have a whole bunch of random issues.

But I actually just recently finished up Darkhawk, and I'm waiting for the last seven issues I need to come in, then I'll have the whole 50 issue plus 3 annual run.

Next I'm gonna finally complete Maximum Carnage after all these years, and I'm also working on Marvel Fanfare. It's a bit slowgoing, but it's fun.

Funny that. I just recently almost completed my collection of that. I just need #48.

I almost forgot! I pick up/read the Twisted ToyFare trades! Those are hilarious.

i mainly stick to the trades as it works out as roughly half price of the single issues. the waits a bitch but i just dont have the money anymore.

i still get the odd single issue comics. astonishing xmen for one and transformers of course. FINALLY got the last issue of ultimates 2 .man that was like being in the worst period of image comics in terms of shipping  and am still waiting for the last issue of planetary which'll be due god knows when. i used to collect squadron supreme but the fecking scheduleing is all over the place. it looks like theyve suspended it to do a crossover with the ultimate universe but what ever im fed up and will probably drop it because its too hard to follow so its trade for now on for it.

as youve probably noticed im pretty much a marvel lad. nothing against DC but i just dont like how their characters are being handled lately. for instance GREEN LANTERN , i really wanted to get into that, like FIRESTORM, as i really liked those characters but im just turned off by how bad theyre being done. ah well maybe later.

stuff i intend to get is the trade of uncanny xmen "the rise and fall of the shiar emipre" mainly because josh's stint on xmen is coming to an end and i want to keep collecting at least one book but i cant believe how crap the teams are at the moment so its the best of a bad bunch. then newuniversal by ellis and larocca. it looks really good and i remember the whole new univers thing so its a bit of a nostalgia rush for me. i want to check out the marvel zombies thing, annihilation, bulletpoints (which was a really cool idea but got no marketing at all, it concerned what'd happen if the guy who shot captain americas scientist creator did so a day in advance and how it'd change history. arts a bit crap but the ideas were cool, spidey as the hulk for instance!) , captain america fallen son which is alot better than i thought itd be and last but not least new avengers illuminati which concerns the infinity gems ! havent seen that in ages.

i was gonna keep collecting new avengers but im completly lost in the aftermath of civil war and i dont like the new team so i'll probably drop it. one good thing about trades is they sort out all the insanity of the new books when theyre collected. i liked what was going on in avengers but i havent a **** clue how to follow it now :)
