I'm trying to come up with some sane, well-thoughtout statement, but all I can think of is 'WTF?'

When a lot of those laws were written, it was a completely different time. During the foundation of our country, the words seperation of church and state had a totally different meaning. Just as the words that "All men were created equal" did not extend to slaves or women. Over time, things like Seperation of Church and State and the All Men Were Created Equal were cast under a totally new light and gained the meanings that they do now.
If that makes any sense.

The problem is, I've looked around, and it seems it's actually still on the books. Someone hasn't been paying enough attention to update it, but then again I'm not to surprised there.

Finite hypocrosy. Just like Thomas Jefferson said all people were equal, and he had over 200 slaves. He was a hypocrite, and he should've been hanged.

All states have these long since forgotten, but never removed laws. Most include things like only being able to have sex in the missionary style, to honking your horn whenever you enter a town.

There's one in Youngstown, Ohio I believe it is, Where it's against the law to walk backwards down the sidewalk eating a donut

In France it's illegal to name a pig Napoleon

Goddamn Massachusetts is weird.

I'm going to go sacrifice a pig in the name of Anarchy, but mostly because I'm an Atheist.

Just kidding, kids. I'm not an Atheist! :P

It's a blue law. Basically it says you go to jail if you speak such family friendly phrases as "God damn it" and "Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ", just like my dad used to use all the time when he was trying to fix the plumbing himself.

Hell, you can't even say "Oh my God!" under that law unless you're actually praying and calling out in ecstasy like a pentecostal.

The real crime is ducks wearing long pants. :-P

My guess would be the Puritans, I mean back in 1600s some of
the stuff they belived in would make the fundies of today seem tame for example: you couldn't laugh or smile on Sunday
if a teenager talked back in a disrepefectable mannor to his parents he could hanged.
