The evil that men do...

So like many I get annoyed that all the Walmarts in my area have different clearances so today I took out a little frustration...

Went to a Walmart that had Metroplex w/scout for $14, returned him to a walmart that had him full price for $40 and bought the 20 DVD Prime they had on clearance for $25. So I gain 1 Dollar, my son gets a free DVD Prime and my MP-01 gets a free autobot stand with a recorded janitors voice.

Creative shoplifting I guess, but Wally world pisses me off with thier inconsistent prices I prefer to think of it as the GEICO commercial says 'Payback-this time it's for real.'

Wow, that was a sneaky, underhanded method of shopping that I myself wouldn't brag about on the internet, for fear of being flamed.

Honestly I've done the same there. It's stupid how they don't have a set clearance sale at all the stores. Nothing pisses me off more than buying something from one for $50 and then seeing the same item the next day for half price at a different Wal-Mart. I consider it using their half ass system to your own advantage.

It's also theft. Not sure if you knew that.

How would you consider it theft? You're returning the item to a wal-mart. How is it your fault that they're charging a different price from one down the street?

It's no different than buying a toy for your son during black Friday when it's on sale, finding out he has one already and when you go to return it you get back twice the money because the sale is over.

About the only thing I've done that's kinda sneaky & underhanded like that was buy an Energon Prime that had a full mouthplate, swap heads with my "mouthy" version, & take it back to the store.

......well, there was also where I got a $80(or was it $90?) 20th DVD Prime at Toys'r'us at Primus's sale price of $40 because they put it in the wrong place. I just kept my mouth shut, took it up to the register, & when it rung up as the correct price, I just told them that the sale tag under the figure said $40....they went to check it, said I was right, & the manager proceded in "correcting" the price. Had the same thing happen once with reissue Rodimus Prime, but I only got a $5 discount that way then.

Edit: I forgot the couple of times I put alternators on layaway so they'd get in a new shipment, & when they did, cancel the layaway.

Anyway you can stick it to the man is fine with me. ;)^

While I haven't actually done that I've considered it.

A while back I also considered buying all the Voyager sized Cybertron figures from one store and returning them to another store in the hopes that the first store would get in a newer wave of figs.... never tested it though.

Once, several years ago, I bought an Item in one county that had a 6% sales tax and returned it to a store in a county with a 7% sales tax and recieved the extra 1% with my refund.
It's never happened again though. :?

I've done that before as well. Great way for money.

Considering that it's Wal-Mart, a huge corporate entity that is known for it's shadey business practices, it'd be hard to imagine people getting upset that customers are sticking it to them. Perhaps if it were a mom-and-pop independently owned store or small business it'd be a different story.

What it sounds is a customer's clever exploitation of a major retailer, to which I say good for him.

Walmarts dumb anyways they don't know what price they want to sell their junk at...The reason I say this is because, the other day I saw two transformers. Cybertron series that were the same charactors forgot the dudes name, one was one clearence for $10.00,while the other one was the original price.

I was planning on getting one for my son. They had them about 5 or 6 of them at my local wal-mart for $35 for quite a while, but I was waiting for them to drop a bit lower, & when they did, they all sold within a week.

They did still have a crapload of Millenium Falcon TF's for $10, though.

Doing the buy-at-Target return-to-Walmart thing seems wrong, but simply redistributing Walmart's stock...

Well, since you are making a profit that seems wrong too but I can't quite see how exactly.

It's a little bit like being a con man. Lying to someone to make money.

"Hey, I bought this here for someone, but he already had it." Yeah, that's lying.

If it's was bought during a sale and returned for good reason after the sale ended without you knowing, well that's just luck. Doing it on purpose to make a quick buck is wrong.

As for saying "Oh, they do some underhanded tricks too," or "They always change their prices, it's not fair." Guess what: Two wrongs don't make a right.

Except you are assuming that he is lying. With Walmart, if they ask you why you are returning the product all they really want to know is if it is broken. You could probably tell the customer service lady what you are actually doing and she wouldn't care.
