Goodness! I think I can maaaaybe do a book a month. Reading tends to put me to sleep, so I usually end up just reading a chapter or two before bed. Heck, I've been doing audiobooks so I can actually make progress.

Anyways, I'm between books. Recently finished Sir Conan Doyle's The Lost World (which was less about dinosaurs than I thought it'd be), gotta find the next read somewhere...

I'm working on this current book a lot more slowly since both my jobs have picked up. So I'm only able to read a few chapters before bed as well.

I've been hooked on Stephen King for the past few months, and just started reading Nightmares & Dreamscapes, a collection of short stories.

Vicious looks awesome.

Which reminds me I really do enjoy true crime books. I actually got to meet Anne Rule before she passed away. She was an amazing woman who worked with the Seattle police and she wrote several books on the cases she was involved in. Crime books are so shocking, gripping and the most amazing thing about them is how good people can be so smart to catch the bad guys.

I have an autograph that Anne Rule signed for me which I will post at some point. I am still trying to fix this blasted sleep cycle so I am trying not to go rooting through my apartment at this moment.

Finished the Fifth Season on the plane over - oh my gosh it is amazing writing.
Think post-apocalyptic ATLA but only with Earth bending and all the post-colonial issues you might want bucketfuls of. Truly excellent, excited for the sequel on the way back!

Read Hope Larson's Solo last night, very quick booklet.

Just finished We are Legion by Dennis E. Taylor. It is a really good book about space probes, aliens, and AI's. I highly recommend it.

I am reading Breaking Blue by Timothy Egan. It is about corrupt cops in the great depression. I am about 16% into it according to my kindle. Going to go do some bedtime reading!

I read a lot of Japanese light novels (in English of course). Just finished Accel World vol. 6, currently reading Spice and Wolf vol. 18, next up is Sword Art Online vol. 11, and after that will either be Accel World vol. 7 or Wolf and Parchment 1.

I'm reading Fahrenheit 451 right now and I have to say it has good ideas but the book is very awkward. There are no transitions, characters seem to move from location to location without any prompting and the writing makes it hard to tell what is actually happening. It has an overall good message but I feel like it could have been easily written better. Thank goodness there is an audiobook on youtube or I would be complaining my whole way through this one.

I read this last year, personally, I really enjoyed it, in spite of the stilted progression. If you want a laugh, watch the movie of it.

I'm currently in the middle of a Stephen King collection of short stories, titled The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. Up next is either the novelization of Marvel's Secret Wars by Alex Irvine, or the sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep by Stephen King.

Ok so this is not necessarily what I'm reading but a funny story that fellow readers might find funny.

So to preface this, my Aunt has been one of the people in my life responsible for my love of reading. She would always buy me books as a kid and take me to the Harry Potter movies when they were in theaters. She supports my love of books so much she has even bought comics for me because it would get me reading.

Anyways I thought up the perfect gift for her - a book off her wishlist and a snuggie (Don't laugh, I got one as a gift a year or two ago and it is great for keeping my arms warm when I read or game with a controller) so I find the perfect book to buy her called The Boat Runner, it's about a Dutch sailor who smuggles people out of occupied places in Europe during WWII. Considering my family is from Holland and we both enjoy historical fiction I thought it would be a wonderful gift.

Now I am all smug in my choice of book for her, and I tease her that I got her this great gift and I know what it is and she doesn't. A few weeks pass and I go to visit her and see how she's doing. Lo and behold she just started reading The Boat Runner from the library. I guess its a good thing I got a gift receipt but at least my taste was spot on.

Finished reading a few books, Dark Sky by Mike Brooks, The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley, and The World Walker by Ian W. Sainsbury.

I’m now reading Neuromancer by William Gibson.

I finished Farenheit 451. Gotta say I didn't like the writing style but it had a good message and made me think. Too many metaphors and characters changing location without prompt. I'd still say it's a book everyone should read because of the message though.

Anyways, I started reading Ravnica which is part of the magic the gathering books. I started playing magic back when the original Ravnica block was going on but I didn't get to read the book because at the time school had ruined my love of reading.

Finished Ravnica. It was okay, left a lot to be desired. Not sure if I will finish the series or not but maybe.

My local library has a challenge where they want you to read 10 books to match 10 different categories so that is what I plan to do this year. (You get a neat button for doing so, but I just wanted to do it to branch out and as a bonding activity for my an my Aunt - the person who got me reading in the first place.) Needless to say, prepare yourself for me using this thread to ramble about books more than usual because I am pumped!

I am starting with Ready Player One today, I am 2 chapters in and I like it so far. I have a feeling I will finish it quickly which is good because it goes towards the "book made into a movie or TV show" category. I also want to finish it before it goes to the theater with time to let my Aunt borrow it.

I was given two more books yesterday, one by Gianrico Carofiglio, one by Dacia Maraini. Not sure which one I'll start first!

Star Wars: Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn. Gotta wash out the taste of Last Jedi.

Seriously, the audiobooks as read by Marc Thompson are awesome. He does a great job with the character voices. There's sound effects and John Williams score is plaued periodically throught. Oh, and Admiral Ackbar doesn't get blown up by the creators of the franchise, so that's a huge plus.

I'm currently catching up on my backlog of comics (Spider-Man: Clone Saga) and Japanese books (Vampire Hunter D and the Morbito series).

I just finished the 12th silver volume of the German science-fiction series Perry Rhodan. It was quite interesting to see how it compares to the other types I've read such as those from Asimov and Heinlein.

Finished Ready Player One. It was definitely a fun read.

I am going to start The Lost Hero by Rick Rordan as it was gifted to me by a friend of mine. Might start that tomorrow morning so I don't pull a 'how long have I been reading for? it's 5am and the birds are singing' when I have things to do tomorrow morning.
