Haven't seen a thread for this, though there's one for Thor. I used to be a huge fan of the Avengers, and that included most of the members' individual careers, stories, whatever. Captain America was never on top of the list, but I think I'll go see the movie...

I'm hoping the movie does a good job of portraying the character. Like Superman, Captain America is often poorly utilized by writers as a character. He's often shown to be a one dimensional character. The best representation of Captain America I've seen in recent memory is that of the "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" version. I hope we someday will see a Captain America portrayal that rivals or surpasses the greatness of Superman in All Star Superman.

Chris Evans.

Can't really see the Human Torch as Captain America though?

The Super Bowl spot looked good despite being only a 30 sec spot. They made it into pretty much a mini origin story. Which for Joe Q Public was likely a good idea. Captain America's story isn't nearly as widely known as say Batman, Superman or Spiderman.

I liked what I saw in the Super Bowl trailer. The Vita-Ray chamber(or whatever they will call it in the movie, looked cool, quite retro.

As I understand it, the film will largely take place during WWII(I'm assuming that there will be a brief portion of the end of the film that deals with a teaser for his discovery as a lead up to the Avengers movie). So with that in mind, I am on the fence with regards to the more updated looking uniform the character has in the movie. I think that uniform would look great for the modern day setting of The Avengers but I would prefer something similar to Bryan Hitch's design for the WWI Ultimate Captain America uniform.

I must say that after watching Captain America: The First Avenger, it has easily become my favourite super hero movie thus far. There are so many things that this movie does right. There are certainly flaws but they seem so minor...I can't even remember the nitpicks that I had when watching the movie. They were fleeting. I'll be honest and admit that I'm still on a high after watching the movie last night. Maybe once I have some time to digest the experience, I'll be more critical and recognize any significant flaws but this movie captures the spirit of the ideal Captain America that exists in the collective consciousness of people who know of the character.

I thought it was fantastic. It was a lot of great fun. It was campy, but the campiness worked. Just a great film.

I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't as good as either of the Iron Man films, and I even liked Green Lantern better, but it was worth seeing.

The first time I saw that movie trailer was when I was in cinema waiting with about twenty-to-thirty+ people to watch Transformers: Dark of The Moon. The trailer got me interested in the movie. (on a side note it was the third superhero movie this summer for me. The first was Thor, second was Green Lantern)
Haven't been so much into CA, my favorite MARVEL is Ghost Rider, but it might be a movie I'd like to see (among with Batmans reboot, Green Lantern, Thor, Harry Potters 7th and 8th, The Fast and The Furious 4&5, Drive Angry, The Expendables and so on...)

But all I know about Captain America is that he was part of an experiment to create a super soldier and that he wields a round shield, similar to TFA Sentinels'.

I saw it this week and I was impressed. It was very well done. I like war movies to begin with, so this was a treat for me. Much, much better than Thor or even Iron Man 2. The Avengers is definitely on the must-see list.

I liked it, but thought it was predictable. The acting was great including Evans.

I agree, Evans' performance was great. He often does the cocky wisecracking shtick in movies, which gave me some concern when his casting for the character was announced. However, his performance in Sunshine showed that he could actually do well in another type of role and could bring gravity to a character.

As Steve Rogers, I found Evans convincing. There is an earnest quality in his performance, which is vital for getting the character right in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the movie. I'm a big marvel fan even If didn't read many Cap comics as a kid, mostly Spider-*Man and x-Men but still the movie was pretty good. It did have its flaws like Hugo Weaving;s painful German accent. Tucci's accent was leagues better and he's Italian.

Definitely one I'm picking up on Blue Ray when it comes out.

The Avengers teaser at the end was also great.

Not as good as Iron-Man I'll admit, but pretty good nonetheless.

Heil Hydra!!!

Just saw it last night and I thought it was excellent. not as good as the 1st Iron man but it was better then the 2nd. Evans was great as Captain America, very believable. I liked how they kept somewhat true to the comics and kept it in the 40s. But what i always thought was didn't Bucky live through the war?

Avengers is going to be epic nuff said

on another note

Wassup Blurrz long time no see how you been?

I think it's something along the lines of Bucky being captured by the Russians and he becomes the Winter Soldier? Not too familiar with the Captain America background material.

Haha, but yeah, good to see you 007! Life's been good. Haven't been in to HMW as much as I used to be.
