FB's Mom dies from Cancer May 6th

Well hello fellow Seibertronians, and greetings from the house of FB.
I just recently found out that my mother has cancer, and a whole lot of it (stage 4). According to the doctors, it wasn't there until January and just rapidly spread from there. My mom was sick through the entire month of February and the doctors gave several reasons, none of which were cancer. Well, they finally decided to do the biopsy a couple days ago and found that she's got a whole lot in the lungs and bunch in her stomach. Some has actually spread to her brain even through the blood stream.
Then today, I got the worst news. Doctors estimate that she'll only live about 3-9 months at most from now.

So she'll be lucky to see the ripe age of 53 in May. I guess they can't operate on it, but they are going to try radiation, no chemotherapy. It's pretty much a given that this IS going to kill her soon, it's just that the radiation will help ease the pain.
I figured lung cancer was gonna get her one these days, being a chain smoker for most of 30 years, but I didn't think it was gonna happen this quick.

Hope this kind of serves as an inspiration for anyone considering or trying to kick that nasty habit.

Makes me all the happier I never started and I hope that this tragic event at least inspires my sister, also a smoker, to try and quit.
Feel free to share your own cancer related experiences/losses. I'd love to hear about them and how you were able to cope with them.

I'm no stranger to family dying of cancer.
Don't trust the doctors time estimate. They're looking at the cancer itself. They're not putting the human need to live into the equation.
The main thing that is going to give her a fighting chance diet and excercise. As long as she keeps her food intake and physical health intact, she might be able to go into remission.
The reason I typed that up was because of my grandpa. Had he eaten food instead of ignoring his lack of appetite then he may still have been around today.

No matter what you gotta keep a positive attitude when you're with your mom. There's no shame in shedding tears, just don't let her see it. She needs to see strength so it will help her be strong.
Enjoy the time you have my friend. Make the most of it. Tell her you love her every time you're with her. Time is a gift we often don't get. Im here if you need me bro.

Cancer has no friends. And as mentioned, the times are never that accurate, the docs usually go by averages of those with the same kind of cancer. A friend of mine had her cancer discovered by accident, and they first told her they could get it, and she'd be fine, but then 6 months later they told her it was in the blood and she'd be lucky if she got 4 weeks, she held on for over a year. A work colleague's husband had a brain tumour and he was told he only had 3 months when they found it, he survived 8 more years.
As for smoking, it really is just a horrid, nasty little thing that causes so much suffering.
While your mother lives, there is always hope.
Good luck and God bless, and as morbid as this is, find a good hospice care programme, it can help in more ways then one, and not just for your mum, but the whole family.

I like what First Gen said-Stay positive around your momma. You don't want to waste any of the time you two have together. Stay strong, that's for sure.

Sorry to hear this, I lost my grandmother to "C" a few years back.
But doctors can be wrong on time.
I was told at the age of 6 my kidneys would fail by the time I was 15.
They didnt fail till I hit 36.

Cancer really sucks big time.
If the doctors tells you that you have cancer, it's as if your world is ending fast.
The best thing to do is avoid cancer by living healthy, eating healthy.
In short, have a clean living life.

Heya.
What first Gen said-tell her you love her every time you see her, x10,learn all the stories about her adventures and tell them to your kids and their kids.
Reiki has been reported to defeat Cancer. If you agree with the reports, consider asking your mum if she wants to become a level 1 Reiki channel, to treat herself as many times a day as she wishes. It's all I can think of other than Oxygen therapy, which I don't even know if it works, is very expensive, and may or may not make the hyper-oxygenated blood stream a hostile environment for Cancer to invade.
Prayers and Best wishes.Be strong but be good to yourself.

I've yet to lose anyone to Cancer (knock on wood) but I have an Aunt who has had sporadic occurrences of brain tumors. Chemo's managed to keep it back and it does go into remission, but everytime it comes up we can't help but fear this will be the one that doesn't stop.
And Fender Bender, Best wishes and hopes that this somehow works out, preferably with a successful treatment.

My thoughts go out to you and your family Fender. Its a very difficult thing to endure.
I lost a grandmother to cancer, though not through smoking, and lost my dad to emphisema (chain smoker most of his adult life). I know its hard, but the best thing you can do, is keep the good memories with you.

Losing a parent is never an easy thing. My father passed nearly ten years ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. The important thing is to stay strong. Life will go on, it will be hard, but life will go on.
