Shout! Factory the guys who have brought us the Transformers series on DVD, just struck a deal with Fremantle Media to release the first 65 episodes of M.A.S.K on DVD.

Shout! wrote:Los Angeles, CA (March 30, 2011) – Shout! Factory and FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) announced today a deal to bring the renowned classic animated series M.A.S.K. to the home entertainment marketplace. Under its multi-year agreement with FME, Shout! Factory will be the exclusive home entertainment distributor with digital rights to the first 65 action-packed episodes of M.A.S.K. (known to fans as the original series aired in 1985) in North America. The announcement was made by Shout! Factory’s founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Jeff Siegel, FME VP of Home Entertainment, The Americas.

Press Release

So awesome, been a fan of MASK as almost as long as I've been a fan of transformers.

The only episodes missing are the Racing season episodes, which apparently are owned by some other company.

The Intro was one of the cooler intros from 80's cartoon. I wonder if this will nod Hasbro to re-release some of the Original toys. I'd like to get my hands on a Switchblade, and a Stinger.

This is pretty cool news. I saw some episodes of M.A.S.K. when I was a kid and I guess I had(and still have) a cecently small collection of vehicles and figures, so either me or my bro will pick this up when it comes out.

Does kinda stink the Racing episodes won't be included, as those are the episodes I remember most as a kid.

Hopefully this, the speed at which "Specialist Trakker" sold, and the popularity of HA will lead to a revived or new MASK toyline.

M.A.S.K. was always my very favorite toy line EVER! Yes, more so than Transformers, and I have all the vehicles ever released by Kenner (lots of which still MIB). I've literally often had dreams of a M.A.S.K. revival since the Racing series ended... Live action movie, new toyline!!! =P~

Releasing the bulk of the episodes on DVD is a good start though.

As you command.

Shout has set the release date for the first 2-disc set for August 9th.

Shout wrote:"The 1980s fan favorite M.A.S.K. is coming to DVD this year thanks to a new deal we just finalized with FremantleMedia Enterprises. Plans are underway to release the 65 episodes that comprise the original complete series (though not the additional ten episodes sometimes referred to as Season Two) in a deluxe set, along with smaller bites in 2-disc sets, beginning August 9. More details to come!"

Now we need an actual price, for 2 discs to a set I don't expect it to be more than 20 bucks. Unless it has some really cool extras.

Shout! has now put up the pre-order for the DVD set. All 65 episodes plus an iron out patch.

There are some tentative extra features like, "Featurettes with Talent".

MSRP is a little high at $89.99 hopefully that will see a reduction later on to around 40 or so like other cartoon shows once all details have been finalized. Even if they are 65 episodes, its rather steep.
