Dark Times in TV Land (sad) >>>

It has been a really crappy time in TV land here lately with many shows coming to an end and many others getting canceled.

V
No Ordinary Family
Detroit 187
Wonder Woman

Finished
Smallville
Stargate Universe

So all I have left now is my Transformers Prime thankfully it has been renewed for season 2.

Family Guy & American Dad is also renwed and Star Wars is returning in 2012 for season 4.

But at least I still have my Prime but I wanted more than anything to see V with Project Aries and Beastmaster himself back would have been for some awesome on screen action.

Now we will never see how they stop the Global Bliss.

But I hear they are suppose to be making a new Battlestar Galactica called Blood & Chrome but unknown when it is coming.

Also their is a Red Faction either a movie or series also coming.

And I hear something about Saints Row also.

Despite not liking the last few years of Smallville I still felt sad knowing this week was the series finale.

Then I watched it.

And I remembered why that pile of garbage should have been cancelled years ago.

Seriously? Two part finale and the big bad is defeated in the blink of an eye? Wow. Garbage. Utter garbage. And they let crap like that go on for years while cancelling something like V that had a damn good story going.

And I wouldn't call Wonder Woman cancelled considering it never even got the pilot aired.

Very sad, though have to say that I'm really enjoying Game of thrones right now.

Atleast SG Universe left us with a option to continue the story within 3 years, so I suppose that there's still a slim chance that it'll be revisited some time in the future.

V deserves to get cancelled.

I really tried to like it, since I watched the original, but it was so BORING! Network TV just can't do Sci-Fi. They take 1 episode of story and stretch it into 10 episodes.

I wouldn't bet on it, not in three years at any rate. MGM had the sets struck last month, and given A) MGM's money troubles, B) how poorly SGU did (Full disclosure: I LOVED SGU, and really wish others had given it a chance) and C) SyFy's lack of interest in sci fi (Space sci fi, at any rate), I don't think they're going to revisit it that quickly.
We may get a new series down the line, but I'd bet we go at least 5 years without a Stargate series.

Now, SGU novels or comics? That I can see happening, maybe/hopefully.

Yup. ABC took a chainsaw to it's fall lineup.

WHAT the HELL!?

That was probably the most intelligent show on network TV. Ugh. I should have known it would be too good to last.

SGU should be in the cancelled list since it was planned to continue beyond the last episode. With the possible exception of V, I'd say everything else deserves to be there. No Ordinary Family wasn't particularly good, and with its rapidly rising levels of absurdity it was destined to go the way of Heroes sooner or later.

And despite SGU improving dramatically toward the end, there's no saving the first season, which was all about who wants to bone who and/or beat them to a bloody pulp instead of focusing on a lot more actual sci-fi and adventure.

V on the other hand is something I'll actually miss, as well as The Event. Both shows had about a dozen episodes of non-stop "meh" but improved dramatically shortly thereafter. I guess it was the early poor performance which struck the killing blow for both shows though.

Sometimes it feels that at the rate these shows get cancelled, pretty soon there won't be anything on TV except Law and Order. Image
