The teaser trailer (GRRRRRRR!!) premiered before Iron Man 2. There has been speculation that this movie is
A prequel to Cloverfield
A sequel to Cloverfield
A totally unrelated UFO movie
After seeing the trailer I am befuddled.. There is no telling what this movie will be, I can say this, with everything I have been reading off various movie sites, there will be a serious viral campaign with this soon..
And I know a lot of people hated it, but I LOVED Cloverfield.

I thought Cloverfield was really cool too. I don't know if I'd put it in the love category, but definitely in the rewatch and recommend categories.
I heard Super 8 was supposed to be unrelated, but I also heard that from a source that's often inconclusive.

I'm just annoyed that you guys get a trailer like that, and we got Russell "I really couldn't act my way out of a paper bag but hey, thanks for the Oscar!" Crowe introducing a behind the scenes and sneak peek at his travisty known as Robin Hood.

It's like they're trying to remake Braveheart or that King Arthur movie from a few years back, but they're not only using the wrong character, they're going out of their way to show how they made him as bland as possible.
EDIT: More disturbingly, it means the Mel Brooks version is more faithful to the source material.

Burn- you didn't miss much.
my only thought on the trailer is "They don't make trucks like that anymore".
seriously, it derailed a train. and not just a little.
but Super 8 looks like a pass to me. or the kinda thing you burn a copy of and take a shot everytime the plot makes no sense, or theres cheesy acting

I love bad movies(They live, maximum overdrive, Transmorphers, alien vs hunter, ect). watch enough, and you can see the signs.
also, its J.J. Abrams. I've seen enough of his work to know some general info. granted there is a slim chance he will not do the same things he does in every other thing he's done, but his stuff is kinda like M. NIght shamalamadingdong. what a twist!

Anyone check out Super 8? I'm a huge JJ Abrams fan so I had to check it out. I loved it. Everyone and their mother says it's The Goonies mixed with Stand By Me, which is totally accurate. It's a great throw back to early Spielberg movies. Yes, there is a monster running amok but at it's core, it's about the characters.
I thought all the kid actors were great. I love the 8mm film they shot, which is a real treat to watch during the credits.
I'm particularly fond of the scene where the kids are filming at the train station. Especially the part where one of them pretends to talk into the phone, over acting

It may be my favorite movie of the year thus far.

Yes you do.
I also enjoyed it, it was like Goonies meets Cloverfield meets ET..
They make you care about these characters too. It is not a monster movie, the creature happens to be a part of the story.
